canopus procoder is pretty nice also has presets for pal and ntsc and also for dvd/svcd and so on afther it is processed..just burn with nero

it depends a lot on the bitrate you encode in......a lott of dvd's use 9000 as their bitrate which allow to put approx 90 minutes to 105 minutes...
xvid uses avi as his container, so you should be able to use dvd2svcd (avi2dvd mode)
