Default Format where you select sound quality frequency is grayed out. On any Wave Out devices output format 16/48. But on a Master Mixer device output format 32/48. First, why the choice is blocked? With what real bit depth is the audio stream transmitted to the sound card? If I listen to music, choose Stereo Mix, is there 32/48, will the sound stream to the card be 32 bits? If I choose Wave Out 2/3 then 16/48? Or is the stream always converted to 24 bits?
Hello. Sound processing by the card's DSP is always done at 48 kHz. The choice is blocked for this reason, I think. This setting is the best, because with it Windows resamples all audio streams to 48 kHz before transmitting to the card. For Wave Out 2/3 all audio is converted by Windows to 16-bit 48 kHz, and for Stereo Mix to 32-bit 48 kHz. Hope this helps.
The card doesn't support any other sample rate for the output... either that or the driver's restricting it.
