Hi Robert, I have just install your custom console launcher, and it compatible with your drivers, awesome work, :) just for the record, what does this custom console launcher has of different from the Creative's one?! Does this address the bug on Windows 8, where your settings don't get saved?

    Thanks for your wonderful work

    Rob,

My test went well, the sound is clear - I used driver sweeper to clear it properly :).

The only problem is I couldn't seem to get my sub working for my Car PC 2.1 system (it boomed on the windows 5.1 test and volume stayed to the set level after a restart). I tried custom console launcher so I could set the bass boost but it installed and didn't recognize the device??? Is this likely to be my System?

Great work Rob - excellent result.

    Cheers,
    Dave

It was working previously.... I'll attempt to re-install the custom console launcher and see what happens from there :).

    Cheers,

Rob, I'm going to try the custom console launcher from post 20 - I think I had another one, slightly older :).

Actually, I just remembered I'll need to set bass redirection to get the sub working properly. Do I need the creative console for this? Or can it be set in Windows?

    Sorry, so many questions :(

Not sure You can go either way. You always can try do clean sweep again by delete creative program folder and start menu after you uninstalled the driver again.

Today I uninstalled the driver, used the program removal to uninstall all creative related apps and finally used driver sweeper to clean creative and realtek drivers off. Rebooted and attempted to run the PAX setup. It gave me a message saying a newer driver is already installed but I continued anyway, and it seemed to go through the install process. I tried to install the console launcher but encountered the same problem - not recognizing that there is a creative device installed. I've had to go back to the last creative driver (not the beta one) to get the bass redirection working as the console launcher works with this driver :(.

I appear to be the only PAX user experiencing problems so assume I must be an error on my part.......

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dave

I would welcome a rebuild. However, I realise you are very busy with many projects and contributions to this forum, so would understand either way :).

    Many thanks indeed,

I've tried installing and get the warning that the setup has detected a newer version. This happened previously when I uninstalled the driver, uninstalled the Creative software, restarted in safe mode using driver sweeper to clean all the Creative and Realtek audio stuff off, then restarted and went straight to PAX driver install. I said install anyway, loaded the custom console launcher from hardwareheaven (yours :)) which didn't seem to load so I was forced to use the Creative console launcher and it said something about no device connected.... I needed custom console launcher to select bass re-direction for my 2.1 system.

Thinking about it, this is probably what happened previously with the first PAX USB Driver, I just assumed that install anyway overwrote the current driver........ and explains why I still had some stuttering and distortion (I put it down to being a work in development).

My Car PC setup uses the soundcard Front L and R output to a Front Amp channel each and the soundcard Sub output to the bridged Rear Amp channels. The soundcard is a Creative USB X-Fi 5.1 surround (not the pro!) SB1090.

Is there any recommendations you can provide as the sound is an essential feature for the Car PC? OR Dare I even say, would you recommend another USB soundcard? Unfortunately, it needs to be an external soundcard as we use Mini-ITX mainboards in Voom PC-2 enclosures, and there is absolutely no room in the case.

Your advice and guidance would be very much appreciated (I realise this could be down to my Noob-ness, lol) :).

    Thanks so much,
    Dave
