    known issues:
    * sb22x support not fully tested -- please report any issues ('bug reports' forum!)
    * sb400 (A2 Value) not fully tested and not all outputs are supported -- please report any issues ('bug reports' forum!)
    * 'show window content while dragging' feature is 'experimental' and might cause certain issues
    * pre-3538i DSP effects won't work -- you will need to get newer versions compiled with the newer SDK
    * some DSP effects and tools are not up-to-date to the versions available on the forum

please report any unlisted bugs in THIS thread or '3538i bug reports' thread unless asked to start a new one. thanks!

    please note:
    * there's no EAX true support
    * newer E-mu cards are NOT supported (although recognized)
    * there will be NO Audigy LS / USB / Live24-bit support

    --
a note for DSP Effect writers, plugin writers, translators etc:
    * please verify if the code included with 3538i is up-to-date with your development. please drop me an e-mail (www.kxproject.com/contact.php) with your updates, if necessary (this is mainly related to DSP effects, DSP Instruments, SoundFont managers, kX add-ons)
    * if there were any 3rd party DSP effects posted on the forum which were not included with 3538i, I would like to ask their authors to drop me an e-mail with the corresponding source code, if possible -- since I don't have enough time to browse the whole forum
    * please check the translations if they are correct and if there are no visual artifacts and issues

    --
    future plans:
    * as always, 24/96 support (no, there is NO true 24/96 support in 3538i!)
    * support for a2 zs notebook (since I now have one)

    --
to avoid converting this topic into a flame, please avoid any replies such as 'where's EAX', 'what about X-Fi', 'how's E-mu 0404 going' and so on :) thanks!

    anyway, enjoy 3538i :)

    regards,
    Eugene

I'm on my way to test it :D

Eugene, you've got the ability to surprise :>

Btw. are there any new features that we should learn to use, or everything is intuitive?

    Thanks :)

I am curious as to why we no longer need to use KX_OUT(0xd)/KX_OUT(0xe) for the rear channels on SB022x models (models that previously had the rear speaker problems)?

i.e. epilog is still using KX_OUT(0x8)/KX_OUT(0x9) for the rear channels, but it is now working.

    <edit>
I thought I would mention that my SB022x card works without the hack setting, and post my card info (as reported by 3538i).

    SB022xa 10k1 [a000]
    Device: 21102 Subsys: 80661102 ChipRev: a
    Codec name: Unk AC97-codec [83847658]

Man, I thought I read that whole thing, but I over looked that. Windows 98 SE is what I mean, though. I wonder why the 3538i installer has an option for the Windows 98 SE quick Fix (what is the quick fix, anyway)? Could it be that win 98 SE is supported, but not Win 98?

seems as if there's no hope for me.
No rear/center for me still :( but i do have lfe.
When i try the center chan in speaker test the sounds plays in 1 speaker in the rear(the left).
    :(
Think there might be a work around?
OH, and also...Russ's plugin didnt help me either back in previous 3538's.
But all is well in 3537...but i want 3538 so im going to fiddle with it alot.

He just did not updated this part of installer.

    >Could it be that win 98 SE is supported, but not Win 98?

No. Eugene's "Win98" states for "Microsoft Windows 98 SE and Microsoft Windows ME"
(The original Win 98 was never supported by kX)

    about 3538i

I don't know if anyone else has already tried it, but I just had some terrible results and I'm back in ol' 3538h listening to some music:p. At least that release gives some proper sound instead of just noise

I use two soundcards (0240 with the front panel and 0060 with hoonteck's I/O). With 3538i, both start giving noise even before windows is fully loaded. Both seem to give more noise in one physical output. Its a hell of a noise, believe me!

Now the best part. The DSP, although it loads and some plugins work, the ones that don't can't be unregistered (a bug 3538h has too) nor they can be installed again! This issue happened both by reinstalling the driver as well as doing a clean install (uninstalling previous version and restarting)

What can be so terribly wrong?

Besides, I hoped the DSP would come along with a beautiful blue bar at the top with the lovely [_OX] for minimizing, maximizing and closing, like every other windows app. In this bar you could read the name of the project you are working on. A file menu could be fine too, where you could see the names of the recent projects and open them immediately.

I know Eugene hasn't got much time to work on these particular items, and I know what I've just mentioned can mean hours of coding, but in my opinion, these are currently more important than ANY audio improvement.

It is very difficult to work in a program which doesn't help you with some basic information like the document you are working on.

Since this kind of coding is really different from the audio stuff, and we all know Eugene has little time to work on this, I would suggest that some other coder could work on that.

Unfotunately I know nothing about coding, I'm an artist, musicologist and DJ who likes cables very much. I can't donate since I can't use PayPal in my countryI've found that most musicians aren't techies, and trying to use a program which lacks so many essential features is even more difficult for a musician.

This software has some serious potential for musicians too, and by putting these File features in, more of them could start using it. The big advantage of using the DSP is its rock-hard stability, where not even a hard system crash can stop the audio processing. This is invaluable for live situations.

Don't make the kX drivers unfriendly for musicians. It should be made for them!

By the way, the loud noise in 3538i could be fixed too, I want to use it since there are a couple of new functions I already needed!

    thanx for the upgrade [IMG]

    I haven't noticed any noise.

Yeah, I did notice that problem still exists. If you delete the 2 registry keys for each plugin, it will essentially unregister them. What I did, since previous plugins do not work with 3538i anyway, was to export (i.e. back up) the kX Regsitry key ( HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kX ) , and then deleted it from the registry. Then I re-installed 3538i.

kernel part of the driver performs necessary translation -- this might cause issues with digital rear outputs -- this was not tested

    I will remove that

    >> mistan

go to 'settings - driver compatibility' and check 'sb22x' option
go to the DSP and reset it
let me know if it worked

With the hack enabled, i only get the "bleeding" in the rear left speaker...
Meaning i dont get any sound but that in the speaker test.
But when i take it off and reinitialize i get everything except the rear...
    Weird, my card is gay

It is a loud, kind of white noise. It renders both of my cards useless. Any audio signal you send to them, doesn't get to the speakers. Is a constant noise, on both cards.

You get no sound at all apart from that LOUD noise. It happened to me installing version 3538i both as an upgrade and a clean install.

Both cards work like a charm when I reinstall version 3538h

    hope it gets fixed

    @rossqwq
In this thread, you were using the Center/LFE/Digital jack for you speaker connection because the jack for Analog Front was damaged (and the rear channels were not working with 3537). Did you remember to move your speakers to the Analog Rear jack? Do you know for sure that the Analog Rear jack is not damaged too?
