I'll try those.
That was 2 hours of bad experience. Same error message. It did try fron device mgr. to load drivers but they had issues. I think I'll wait to see if anyone else is having luck with W2K
Big thanks for the new version ! All works great !
Installation fails on Windows 2000. Driver now entirely compiled with msvc2005, some backward compatibility may be broken. Not only exe files trigger error, but the kx.sys itself.
Looks like W2K is going to be a no go at this point. Based on the changes I don't think I'm loosing anything anyways.
Looks like PE-format broken for win2k loader.
I managed to fix this!
If you know how to edit PE-file header, you can fix it too:
OS version 6 .0
Image version 6 .0
Subsystem version 5 .1
All you need is to change this fields to 5.0 in every .exe, .dll and .sys. win2k is version 5.0 and refuse to load such *new* files.
Files are located here "%Program Files%\kX Audio Driver\3539"
--PS: but there is missing import funtion in KX.sys from NTOSKRNL.EXE, the _CIsqrt (possibly others), so, driver needs to be recompiled. 8(
Bah! After about an hour of messing around with that russian site I finally managed to download the installer. The link given by Johny1982 keeps giving broken downloads.
Here is a working, no ads, no wait, no BS download link.... sheesh
Vista bug fix
Thanks for the amazing driver, Eugene! I've really been waiting for it since Creative announced that they wouldn't be making new drivers for SBLive for Vista (and may they burn in h*ll!!!).
However, I found a bug (in Vista): it seemed that the right channel copied itself to the left, so that both speakers recieved the right channel. However, I fixed that. If you've got the same problem, read on:
First, I right clikced on the sound icon in the tray and clicked on Playing Devices. Then I set all of the playing devices to stereo, 16 bit, 48000 hz (click on device, properties, advanced). I don't think that's the trick, but I better descripe it, as I'm not sure. Then I set the Wave Out 4/5 as the primary/standard device (instead of 8/9). That's it..
Are you sure it's set on 4/5? If I try to set 4/5 or 6/7 it always goes back to 8/9 as soon as I close the window.
Tried setting it to Master Mixer? That's what it's on here and no problem, though I'm only using stereo speakers. Audigy2ZS, 24bit 48kHz setting.
My link still works.
Well, I restarted my comp. and everything, it's still on 4/5.
But of course the master mixer would be the best - why the h*ll didn't I think of that?!
By the way, I only use stereo speakers myself, so no clue about surround problems..
I put mine on master mixer. I wasn't doing it correctly before, I was trying to change the "device" via the mixer. I did it through the control panel and now it stays.
Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of all the sound artifacts with ASIO.:dead:
With .3539, I can't get the ASIO panel to load except in SONAR. Can anybody get the ASIO panel to load via right clicking the kX icon in the taskbar and going to Settings/Asio Control Panel? When I do this, nothing happens!
The worst thing is that when I try to open the ASIO Control Panel outside of SONAR, I lose the ASIO driver completely when I reopen SONAR. I have to restart the PC a few times and/or even reinstall the kX driver to get the ASIO driver back in SONAR.
same thing happening here, well I don't use Sonar. kxASIO simply ceased to exist in the system...
what are your OSes?
i have never experienced such problem with any of kX versions...very strange.
Works fine for me....
I can't access the ASIO panel in Vista through the kxmixer. I can only access it via a DSP program I use (Thuneau Allocator). ASIO is working for me, but I get pops/clicks even at max latency.
I'm using Windows XP. It's in my signature.
After a re-install of the kX Driver, I get the ASIO Control Panel outside and inside of SONAR and the ASIO driver is back, for now.
In other words, It's working like expected, now, for now, anyway.
ah, sorry, i have signatures turned off.
anyway, it's up to corrupt install and/or uncorrect resetting (or some not deleted registry entries) at the end.
i installed over 3538m with no problems at all (setup reset what needed by itself)
