Anyone has any suggestion for one? 17" to 24" in size or close.

The only true 4:3 monitors I can find are either very small, very expensive touch screen monitors, or just plain lying. Being 5:4 and sold as 4:3.

I am obviously not talking about CRT monitors as they are long gone out of production.

    2005 called...

the last 4:3 displays i've handled and seen available are from 2008... Anything modern is exclusively for specific special use cases.

Used market, perhaps? Off lease? Thrift store?

Lease and thrift stores are not ways to get things here. We simply don't have them here.

I am not really looking to get a second hand one. I was hoping for a new monitor. I can find 5:4 monitors, new ones, but for some reason not 4:3.

Well, if anyone of you happens to find something by luck or not, please let me know.

What does the military have to do with anything?

They usually have all sorts of gear, mostly rugged, but they got it.

As far as I know, the Greek military doesn't give away or sell old equipment like the USA does. At least not to citizens.
Regardless, the more I remember, the more I think the problem is deeper than just finding one who makes/sells them.
In the post 2000 era there were very few 4:3 TFT monitors made as the 5:4 ratio was preferred till 16:10 briefly dominated.
    Not easy indeed.
    I have stopped looking.

1280x1024 monitors were certainly prevalent... but the most common are still 1024x768 during those initial years.
There were a few 1600x1200 displays but far rarer than the other 2 common standards. And 800x600 was.. well.. already tedious.

The only display i found just from chance was a 1024x768 17" lcd built in 2005... literally the last of it's kind.

What about equipment sellers? Companies that sell industrial machines, CNC machines, and the like. They usually have smaller displays on hand for the equipment they sell. You might be able to get a panel, and then figure out some sort of mounting for it.
