hurry ATi 6.10's look ownage
Guys, lets keep the flaming out of here and keep this thread about opinions on the up-comming driver-releases.
ATi has said that game-specific-profiles are comming, so that is one feuture im looking forward too.
Other than that, and the regular performance increases in diffrent scenarios (like opengl-games and use of AA), ATi drivers are really good on my system.
The CCC takes 2 seconds to start, and that after 3 hours of Oblivion. Normally it starts instantly. Performance in most (all?) games are great. There is no game that i haven´t been able to play in max settings. I mean, many talk about Oblivion - but with ati drivers i am playing beyond max settings (use of HDR+AA) without any issues whatsoever.
What i would want to see are more settings in the 3D-settings of the CCC. Take Crossfire for example. I want to be able to force ANY of the diffrent modes and try wich one works best MYSELF. Waiting for ATi to "add support" will never work. I would never go Crossfire for as long as that is the situation.
What about finally adding the "Flip Queue Size"-setting into the CCC? This setting seems to really solve mouselag in a few games. Or if you dont have any mouselag - setting it to 3 will give a slight boost in performance. After all, we have an Advanced CCC - this is exactly where settings like these should be.
Instead of the 3D-refreshrate Override option in the CCC - i´d like something much more aggressive. That option doesn´t work in 50% of my games, while a third party program like 'Refresh force' works 100% of the time. Sure i could keep on using Refresh Force, but why not ask for something better integrated into the drivers?
I don't really care about the performance improvements, they often cause more bugs then improvements anyway, I just want all games to work without crashes including oblivion. Stability first then maybe some performance improvements. If the performance improvements are for the new series why should the ones sitting with the old cards be affected. Hope they'll fix the crashes from 6.8-6.9 because I really want all the other stuff they fixed in those drivers.
Actually I'm not sticking up for Robert, the fact is he didn't report the post. It doesn't matter who reported it or not. The fact is that the post wasn't only offensive but useless . I acted as a moderator of the ATi driver forum not as a zer0point member. But no sweat, you can be sure that the next warning will surely not come from me.
exactly, ViruS2k may need to relax a bit, no need to bash ATI just because you choose to use the x64 version of XP Pro. I used it for a long period of time also but reverted to the 32bit version due to lack of drivers for certain things
You have had warnings in the past, and I was pretty leniant when you had your "account hijacked" and you came on DH posting porn and insulting people.
When a moderator sends you a warning in PM you adhere to it - you dont copy and paste and insult on the forums. This is unacceptable and is something you continue to do. Due to this I am giving you a time out. When you decide that you can be mature and contribute to this community in a positive manner, drop me an email.
back on topic....
the 6.10's were supposed to come out on October 17th....what's up with the end of the month release date the past few months...I liked the early to mid month releases better...I've been really looking forward to 6.10 for the AA + HDR Oblivion fix...
I waiting the on the 6.10s as well, even skipped over the 6.9's for them.
lol. i'm still running the 6.3s. how much IQ/FPS improvment is there w/these over the 6.3s? I mainly play bf2, but soon i'll get back into other games as well.
the 6.10's are really going to come in handy over the next few weeks as some big games are coming out---Neverwinter Nights 2, Need for Speed: Carbon and F.E.A.R: Extraction Point...
6.8 brought my x800 xl some great opengl and ok dx fps boost
I doubt we will see a driver this month with the merger going through and and all.
Be kind of a first if we went a month without a new driver set unless they done this before. I also awaiting the new set of drivers for X64.
a driver once a month was ati's policy.. maybe amd wants to change that? i sure hope not..
I just ordered a new gpu, hopefully something will be out by the time i'm ready to do a fresh install...
Only time will tell how this marriage works out...
atis got a new site now, kinda like the old one but with some significant changes. makes finding drivers a litle hard now
I'm beginning to believe that the Catalyst 6.10 drivers will end up being called Catalyst 6.11.
think you are on to something.....
i'm wondering if one of the formerly ati and now amd ppl who check out the driverheaven boards could comment on the impact that the merger might have on the driver release schedual?
CatalsytMaker posted over on rage3d to assure the community that the driver program is still going strong and 2 reasons why 6.10 are late this month:
