Well I'm RMA'ing my Connect3D card for the exact same issue and Connect3D are aware of the new revision. Tell them to Contact ATI, since ATI customer care are the people saying that a new revision is needed.

Has anyone tried enabling dongleless X1900GTs on these drivers?

Unfortunatly these drivers are optimized for the X1900 cards, So i'm afrade i'm going to have to go with too little, too late. Its a sad state of affairs that ATI has gone this route. But every driver has gotten slower with each release. I wont even go into the CCC, its a mute cause, considering it will be a least a year before Vista is prime time.

I did not vote on these or download them. I usually come here first and see what everyone else has to say about the ATI drivers and this set to me seems as if no one is posting much on them.So I'll wait and see what happens.:tears: I suppose ATI has kinda gotten behind NV I hope the next vid cards they bring out gets them back on top.

Threads like this always serve to remind me of why I love the internet  You guys are sure down on these drivers.

I don't see how you can say one after another that these drivers don't offer anything. The performance increase claims in the release notes are the most significant we've seen in a very long time. So I guess the order of the day is to complain about the lack of fixes. Next month if we see a lot of fixes and no performance gains it will be time to complain about that :x

If you check the benchmarks at Tweaktown.com you'll see that these drivers are in fact slower than previous drivers. and only show improvements with the X1900 series cards. Hence my comment. Not complaining at all.

I've noticed a 2% to 5% performance increase in most of my 3-D games (all of the games I have tested were either DirectX 8.1 or 9.0, none of them were OpenGL) with those new Catalyst 6.6 drivers.

Of course it always depends on your own system set-up, but at least in my case it's better than Catalyst 6.3, which in my opinion were the best so far this year, until now with 6.6. I had a few issues with 6.4, and 6.5 especially. Now 6.6 brings everything back to normal, and has more performance as it seems for me anyway.

I kinda thought about something i would like to ask you guys about. You know, when the 6.6 beta was released, there was also a driver/patch with the chuck-improvments included. Would these work to install on the official 6.6 drivers?

    I miss AA+HDR in oblivion :)

You can only use one or the other, the released 6.6's are newer than the beta 6.6's.

omfg first time have used unmodded drivers with the ccc since they introduced it... 3 CLI threads taking up 16meg...same issues exist as first version slow control panel gobbling memory... Please revert to the old control panel or at least provide it as an option again...

Back to Omega's Drivers for me...
