love the way pp bash the states, yet are the first to call us when they in trouble whether it be economical or militarly speaking. We are all one people after all and everyone has there bad apples.

as for canadians, i have a few friends that are canadian and are pleasent people. and yes we have some outspoken people but in our mere 300 years of exsistence we have come farther than any other country who has been around a lot longer than us. think we're doing something right. and as far as models are concerned as posted earlier, most of the american beauties out there are decended from other nations. and the curly lipped latinas as stated tend to be some of the prettiest.

and besides i would'nt want your guys tax bracket (canada) 45%! ridiculous.

and about the world wars, well if it wasnt for us europe would be speaking a german/russian dilect and asia and australia would be speaking japanesse. canada would still be canadian cause you guys are on the top bunk of the bunk beds with us to keep all the scary people away...lol

Yeah, America has no culture because we have every culture here, they just stick together. Culture is to exclude people and we don't do that. And, yeah, Americans prolly suck, that's just because ANYONE can come here and be one. We didn't invent genocide and slavery, but we were pretty good at it.
I work at an indigent hospital and at least half the people that come in don't speak english, and they don't have money or insurance, and yeah, it's tiresome, but they are treated no differently than the stupid Americans you all hate so much.
And I do beleive that America will be beaten by the rest of the world, cuz the only way to stop it is to kill everyone else. We prolly won't do that.
Maybe everyone hates us cuz we don't care about them, and this is true. I sure as hell don't care. The only time we care is if there is something in it for us. Maybe going to war is just to boost our economy and such, we don't really care.
After America is delivered back to the stone age, I hope some smart people ( who could have just come here and joined us instead of sticking a nuclear suppository up their ass and running through the streets of NYC) reinvent Levi's and Marlboro's for the rest of you all.

"We have the three greatest inventions of the 20th century; the Fusion bomb, modern computer games (in general), and the Chevrolet z06 Corvette. (3.8 seconds from 0-62 in a car under 100,000? whee!)"

How did you want to invent the H-bomb and A-bomb without our beloved German Einstein.
And computergames are cool, but without a TV or monitor that Dutch Philips invented it's not that entertaining, and to store it on the Dutch Philips invention: The CD is also very convenient.

"We have way better super models. I'm sorry, but all the buck-toothed brits and curled lipped latinas in the world can't compete with homebrewed american beauty."

0,5% of the american female population is extreme beautiful, 5% is plain pretty and 94,5% is ugly.
    Example of another county, Holland
30% of the Dutch female population is very beautiful, 40% is pretty, 20% is plain pretty and 10% is ugly.

Sorry fella, been to Holland for several extended periods. Did not see women that looked any better or worse then American ones. I've seen beautiful women in all the countries I've visited, and on the same token seen ones that look like they fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch before striking bottem.

    {*sigh*} essay alert!

Okay, I finally feel compelled to weigh in on this thread....

In my travels throughout the world I've found that EVERY country has things about it that are great, and every country also has things about it which aren't so great. IMHO, it's silly to try to debate which is the "greatest".

Historically, the thing that has been BEST about the U.S. has been the amount of opportunity and freedom available to (most) citizens; my ancestors two or three generations back emigrated to this country as poor people with little opportunity where they came from; by the next generation, they had produced a university physics professor (why I know so much about H-bombs, BTW) and the editor of a major newspaper. By the following generation, EVERY child went on to a university education and a successful 'career'. The BAD thing about this country is when we take away opportunity and freedom; witness how hard it is still for the descendents of our black slaves to find the opportunity to better life for their children. It's getting better, but it's still not how it should be.

It is a country where people have come after fleeing oppressive political systems, oppressive social/ class systems, and (sometimes) oppressive educational systems, where they were not free to achieve all that they could- and many of them have achieved great things (witness some of the scientists mentioned earlier, such as Einstein). It is also a place where new classes of immigrants have been treated cruelly and held back from their potential (the grandfather who became the newspaper editor was Irish- he had to overcome enormous prejudice to rise as far as he did!)...

And yes, it has been a place with the freedom to innovate, and that is a great and powerful thing. As U.S. society has "matured" it has become harder and harder to be truly innovative and inventive (I think the days of Thomas Edison are, unfortunately, long past), but it IS still possible- witness the advances of microelectronics, computers and bioengineering that are going on right now... Other societies allow innovation- some (Japan comes to mind) excel in taking a proven idea and finding ways to do it BETTER; but the U.S. still seems to be the best spot (for now) for somebody to come up with a crazy dream, convince others to give them enough money to 'build' it, and eventually create something that truly changes the world (or fail miserably- failure is permitted as well).

As for the country itself- we are blessed with an enormous amount of territory, and many places of extraordinary beauty, and we should be very grateful for this. We are, however, the 3rd most populous country in the world and expending resources (world wide- not just in our own country) at a rate much higher than ANY other country, so we need to learn the lessons of self-discipline, if we aren't going to ruin our country or, for that matter, our planet. This is a hard lesson and has many costs- including an effect on that same freedom to innovate that is so good...

So I consider myself extremely lucky and blessed to live in this country and to have the opportunities that I do, and I acknowledge the incredible hard work that my ancestors had to do to give me this opportunity. I've truly enjoyed the opportunity to visit other countries and see other wonderful cultures and places, and YES, it IS amazing to visit a place where you can FEEL how much history there is- 200+ years seems so insignificant by comparison.

Okay, it's out of my system now- end of essay. :D

    Re: sdfg

Your military. It might be the best funded, it sure as hell is not the best trained. Amongst professional soldiers, the Brit and Israeli armies are recognised as being the best trained. There is a quote, common amongst many armies, the best army in the world would have German officers, Brit NCO's, Israeli soldiers, and Yank budget levels. World's most respected Special Forces? Brit SAS and SBS. World's most respected "elite" units? Brit Para's and Royal Marines (even Rangers and US Marines recognise those facts).

best equipped. Hmm, the Abrams didn't fare too well in the Gulf War, it kept overheating. The M16 is not a bad design, it works in the crap. But the 5.56mm round has less stopping power. Oh, and the only reason everyone else moved from 7.62mmNATO to 5.56 was at the Yanks 'request'. Stealth fighter? Hardly has a sucesfull track record.

Now then, the greatest inventions. The computer was a European invention, debateable which was first, the German Z1 or the brit invention during WWII. Computer games flourished just about everywhere at once, so it's impossible to say who invented them.

And as for the 'Vette.... well, American car design hardly has an illustrious rich history. For years they were big-assed, slow moving gas guzzlers. Under 100,000... what? 100,000 lima beans? Hell, a Hamman BMW 540/8 can do that.

And nuclear weapons are not a US invention - it was a collaboration between scientists from the Allied powers in WW2 that led to the fission weapon (based heavily on the work of several European's notably Einstein), which in turn led to another collaboration over fusion weapons.

That said, I have worked with many Americans in the past, in the Forces, and at present with my current employeer. On the whole, American's are far more polite and hospitable than the English. However, they have a very curious attitude as tourists...

I'm not gonna dispute anything you said because I ain't knowledgable enough in those fields to know differently, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn you were correct. I'm of the opinion that there's enough things to "be the best" at to go around and it is an awful dod-gamned big-assed world. To think the US is the best at everything is the height of arrogance, IMHO.

But I am curious about the above comment, could you elaborate please?

The best fighters belong to no nation... and you completely missed the navy Seals... the GSG... russian Alpha... and about a thousand other special forces units. As for Marines being 'good' ... well they are good at what they do... they are shock troops and no one expects them to do much other than die. LOL!!!

3.8 seconds to 62mph on a production car with no modifications is pretty damn good.

Since the British SAS and Israeli army are so amazing I guess NATO won't need american forces to do ALL the peacekeeping and occupation. I was so STUPID to think America's armed forces were good, those American funded/equipped/trained Israelis have us trumped!

Come on, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait all use our tanks/artillery/money and sometimes our training techniques and infantry weapons.

So what if we've been around for 300 years? In England's infancy (first 300 years) it was a veritable dark age with multiple kings and usurpations...In our first 300 years we've become the most powerful country in the world, and we've impressed our culture on to almost every aspect of the world.

WW1 and WW2... the only reason America joined in the war was because England was about to fall, and without England America would have had no launch position to combat Hitler in the future if needed. Had America not joined all of western and some of eastern europe would be saluting Hitler's son, and eating off nazi dinner plates. WE won the war that England fought (and the french peed their pants at).

    Gee...America sucks.
