actually he had a bit of bad luck installing it and the card died.

he accidentally left the thermal pad on the HSF then put the AS3 on it while installing it.

so it wasnt cooling it properly and damaged it.

but as long as you remove the thermal pad the installation goes fairly smoothly :)

Like Crash said, dont judge the product by my mishap, he had good luck with his, and I simply made an assinine mistake on the installation. Just remember their is no instructions that come with the kit, so be sure and ask procedural questions. Believe me I asked plenty, and still overlooked an important step! ;)

    Question...

I have RAM sinks glued on my 9700Pro, how can I get them off to install the new HSF?

very carefully... use extreme caution.. but i would use a hair dryer to warm it up (not too much) then a pice of plastic or cardbard sothing thats ging to keep you from danageing the brads traces... put it down on top and use a large flat screwdriver to gently pry them off ... but thats what i would do ...what ever you do there is allways that small risk of damage

copper is great for pulling heat off of cores, but copper has a tendency to hold in heat.

Aluminum is a bit slower at pulling heat off of cores but much much faster than copper at releasing that heat so that it can pull up more and keep a cooler temperature

thats why the best coolers are typically copper base with aluminum body

the copper will put it off fast and the aluminum will get rid of it faster

yup just an accident that could have happened to anyone....and I feel a bit at fault as I didnt specifically state to remove the existing heatpad from the new TT cooler.

    Re: Question...

I just played a game for an hour, shut down and gave the RAM sinks a little nudge and they came right off.

Seemed to be some sort of apoxy. I hope it's not the same quality stuff they use on the Stealth Bombers/Fighters.:D

This website is an absolutely terrible retailer, I would advise against buying anything from them. Two serperate friends of mine ordered from them, and they both experienced loads of trouble (card was DOA, they wouldn't RMA for some reason, etc). Just check out their reseller ratings at www.resellerratings.com

Hell l've been buying parts from them for a long time without any issues.

Matter of fact my last order got here 2 days earlier than I thought it would :wtf:

Oh, them- I almost bought the 9700pro from them0 I think I would have been better off- The one I got has 290mhz 3.3ns ram-- they said "built by ati" in their ad- Obviously they lied-- look
    http://www.ateck.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=453055075

See- built by ATI-- ATI didn't make a 9700pro with 3.3ns ram did they? I didn't think so.
