The all singing all dancing Atom which has the graphics and the rest of the chipset integrated on the same chip is due for release on 3rd January. Intel announced this to let their manufacturers release news in the run up to Christmas, hoping for big new year sales. The new platform needs much less physical room which is going to be a big bonus for netbook makers, however the performance is apparently much the same, as is battery life. The price is set to be around $65 at launch which is 20 more than the N270 however when you consider that the chipset is on the chip it should actually mean systems built around the new processor cost less. I wish they would release higher clocked versions of the Atom, maybe not for the netbook market where power requirements are a factor, but definitely for the nettop market.
