My RMA'd HD6870 is due to arrive at Newegg tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll get the replacement sent out immediately.

On another note: ACCELL has still not replied to my email and it's now been a week and a half. My recommendation would be for AMD to pull its certification for these adapters. I've now tried three different ones made by them and not one has worked.

I cannot believe it!!! The knuckleheads at Newegg are NOT replacing the video card but are Refunding the purchase. That is NOT what I requested! I specifically requested a Replacement. AND, they DO have the card in stock...per their website.

But, be that as it may, and being that this was the first RMA I've had to do with a video card since my original 8MB All in Wonder card, I prefer to do business locally at Micro Center as I've done for years. I'll pick up the XFX brand 6870 in the next couple of days and see how that one performs. Hopefully, my VISA will be refunded in a day or two as Newegg received the card last Friday.

And, FWIW, I STILL have not received one word from ACCELL. That's two weeks now without any response.

I only have one PCIe slot in my motherboard. The 6870 is an awesome card, though. I just couldn't get a DVI signal from the MiniDisplayPort to my monitors using several different adapters.

Once I get the XFX card, I'll have to start this ordeal all over again but hope it's not a total repeat.

    UPDATE:

It WAS the Gigabyte video card! I just installed the XFX card a few minutes ago and have had NO problem with getting the correct resolution on the DP-connected display!

Currently, I'm using a Mini-DP ->DP adapter and then the Monster-brand DP->VGA adapter like I was using on the 5770. I, at this moment, have a 3x1 Eyefinity configuration and there's been no hassle with getting the full 1080p resolution.

    YAY!!

Excellent news! All this time it was a bad card.

    Now enjoy the goodness!

    Apparently so!

I've gone now for over two hours without the first flicker or lost signal. Even just played about an hour of Alpha Protocol in Eyefinity.

But, oddly, I can't get the Unigine Heaven benchmark to run. Maybe I need to reinstall it. ???

any chance you can try out a 4th monitor.. doesn't matter what and see if you can run eyefinity + 1?

Now I know, with todays update to PowerDVD 10 Ultra II, that 3D works on these cards with shutter glasses and initialises the 3D tv as well as the glasses automagically.

It works flawlessly with 3D Vision, just flicking over to 3D mode and activating the NV emitter, hopefully will be the same seamless transition with the AMD hardware as well.

Well, with my Samsung 40" 3D LED (8005) it works as it should, except that it goes into 1000p mode and leaves a black border. All AMD hardware.

Well, I DO have a 4th LCD here. It's the original Chimei 22 inch I got two years ago for my birthday.

But, just how would you suggest I try this configuration? The HD 6870 still only has two "clocks" and it seems to me that I'd need another DP adapter to even give this a go.

The way I'm setup right now is this:

Right-most display is the DP-connected monitor.
Center and Left-most are connected via DVI cables from the two DVI ports on the video card.

That leaves the HDMI port and the second Mini-DisplayPort vacant.

AND, I do have some really good news!

While I was away at work today, I left the Eyefinity configuration active. All three displays went into "sleep" mode and, this is the good news, they all came "awake" as soon as I hit the Space bar on my keyboard. There was no "lost link signal" message at all!

As for the Heaven Benchmark: I definitely recall running it in Eyefinity on my 5770. And, there are Youtube videos of it in Eyefinity, too.

EDIT: Just got the Heaven Benchmark to run at 6048x1080 in Eyefinity! What I had to do:

Disable the Eyefinity setup and leave ONLY one display active.
Run the Heaven Benchmark at 1920x1080. Did not have to let it complete...just make sure it started.
    Exited the benchmark.
    Setup my 3x1 Eyefinity.
Start up the Heaven Benchmark and make sure it had the 6048x1080 resolution selected as well as the Full Screen option.

Start the benchmark and enjoy the show!

What was happening previously is I was getting an error that the app could not set the 1920x1080 resolution and would revert to running in a window. This procedure fixed that error.

well personally don't want to make you go out and buy another dp adapter lol..

i was just hoping you had another one out of all the adapters you had..

far as i know you don't NEED an active dp adapter for an extended desktop display......

I just want to know if you can use Eyefinity + 1 without much difficulty by utilising both the dvi ports + the 2 dp ports

@Judas: All of the "active" adapters I got that didn't work were returned for refunds. So, I don't have any extras to work with.

FTR, though, I will NEVER buy another ACCELL adapter! They have not bothered to respond to my request and it's been almost three weeks now.

I AM interested in checking out the Sapphire made one. Since I have a gift card at Newegg, I may order it just for the heck of it to see if it works. Although, I'm seeing posts on other forums about it being almost as much of a PITA as the others.

If I do anything, I'll update this thread.

Since I had a gift card for Newegg, I decided to order that Sapphire DP->DVI Active adapter. I only had to pay about $3 out-of-pocket for it. So, if this one doesn't work it's no big loss. It's on its way via free shipping.
