    Answer: It doesn't!

Just got the Sapphire ACTIVE DP->DVI adapter in the mail and checked it out.

I have the exact same result as I had previously. That is, I get a black screen on the DP connected screen even though the display is recognized and I can even go through all the steps to set up a 3x1 Eyefinity configuration.

Then, when I Disable that screen, there's a "No Signal" message as the power light turns yellow.

I think I'm done with these active... "NON-WORKING" adapters.

Back to using the DP->VGA adapter that does do the job nicely.

Very bizarre... as I have said before both my new style adapters and the older powered one work without a problem on every Radeon I have tried. Stop dipping them in water before use :p

    It's the mailman's fault! ;)

But, on a serious note: Could it have anything at all to do with how my monitors handle Dual-Link DVI vs. Single-Link DVI? If they only can handle Dual-Link wouldn't that rule out the other?

V3 don't you think this is something that should be further investigated considering that i've gone through more then 3 of the ATI radeon 5770's and countless active/passive/powered DP-DVI adapters with utterly no luck at all as well..

the only thing i've gotten to work and it's not ideal as i occasionally get a blank screen and occasionally get a black screen flicker using the one Sapphire 190 dollar DP-DVI active powered adapter which is the ONLY thing that will work..

Across numerous brands of 5770's as well.

What i would like you (and Dyre) to do is a single post each, below which outlines your experience from beginning to end with adapters/eyefinity.

Give details on your specs, what happened etc. I will then pass them to AMD for comment/assistance/feedback. (I know its not fun to write it all up again but it saves AMD time if everything is compressed into 2 posts).

    Thanks guys.

Just out of interest, have your expriences testing Eyefinity in reviews always been silky smooth? (Sorry if I'm asking you to repeat yourself, feel free to copy paste if so.) I'm just wondering if perhaps you're getting sample hardware for reviews that works while the customer is getting retail hardware that doesn't D:

I have total faith in HH. I haven't got total faith in companies sending off their products to be reviewed. If end users in this thread both had issues and HH didn't, that makes me suspicious of said companies, not of HH.

The active adapter I have was bought from a UK retail store. All of the displays have been randomly sourced. Some bought retail, some direct from distributers. The majority of the cards have been "retail" samples rather than reference AMD cards and the 2 new style adapters I have are Weison branded and not anything out of the ordinary.

Cool... it's not a universal problem with the technology then.

I have SEVEN printable pages of posts/notes of my experience with both the HD 5770 and the HD 6870.

How would you like me to upload this?

If you can condense it into a post of about 20 words that would be ideal, thanks.

Or email it all to me at veridian3 at driverheaven.net :D

    Thx.

It does not work on a XFX HD5770 nor on a Gigabyte and XFX HD6870 using ACCELL Active Adapters, period.

At this point in time so close to christmas... i'm a little swamped with things to do....

I haven't had time to sit down and really throw anything together quick in a more formal form...

I kind of want to grab all the ports and whatnot and give it all a go over since with the 5770's and such i've got here and grab another 6770...

I'm getting quite "flusterated" with the Tech Support even from XFX. :annoyed:

After exchanging a few emails with them about the problem I'm having...which has been posted here in detail...I had a response waiting on me last night when I got home.

After reviewing my reports, the most recent respondent said, "....I assume you don't have a monitor with DVI support and that's why you're using VGA...."

This, after I had already reported that I had actually purchased three different DP->DVI adapters and none of them worked to produce an IMAGE on the screen although they were producing a SIGNAL to the screen.

They need to dock this guy's pay and demote him to janitor.
