I recently bought a radeon 9600 XT on ebay, brand new. The graphics card looks as expected, it plays games well, but i was just wondering is Core: 398 Mhz Memory: 202Mhz (404 Mhz effective) btw can someone explain this "effective" thing? i dont get it. thanks.
It should be 500/300 for XT and 400/300 for Pro. Since yours is 400/200 it seems you've been had on ebay. Memory with DDR technology often has its clock frequency doubled up when described, since it theoretically can carry out two commands per clock. I think it's better to stick to the actual clocks when describing something, and also the word effective is out of place since efficiency needs to be measured.
Yep defonatly not an XT... http://www.neeyik.info/3dspecs/ dont even thing its a pro as the pro usealy has 600mhz memory, not 400mhz so it one of those "lite" "SE"or plain 9600's
My first ever GFX card was a 9600XT, and guess what? I bought it on ebay too!!! It had EXACTLY the same speed core and memory!!! A huge overclocker though, and I got it near stock XT speeds for 2 months before it stopped working - I had it for only 9 weeks!!! I still have it lying around somewhere... cause_of_chaos
9600 Xt Se? I have an ATI 9600 PRo.GPU 400 MHZ,RAM DDR 202 MHZ 400 MHZ effective.9600 XT is 450 clock and 650 RAM
An XT has a 500MHz core and the RAM is 300 MHz (600 effective), not 450. A Pro is 400/200 IIRC Anything less is just a vanilla 9600 or a 9600SE
