i'm not a storage freak, i'm just stupid that's all... 1.2tb using 4x320gb seagate 7200.10 SATA2 NCQ drives in raid 0.... just looking for good, damn good speed... i only use roughly 100gb atm
400gb right now and kinda, my 400 is getting populated..... 212GB used so far may upgrade to 2Tb or so when i get a new setup
At one point i had 3 750gb seagate drives.... 2.15tb is WAY to huge, everything showing as 99% free space is just weird to me.. lol
3 x 320 GB drives Probably don't need so much, as I've been buying DVDs of shows/movies recently that I would have otherwise kept on the drives. I'm tempted to pick up another drive, and set them up in RAID 1 so I can slack a bit in my backups.
Have 4 X 250GB drives in RAID 5 (750GB) and 2 X 80GB drives in RAID 0 (160GB) Using 211GB on the RAID 5 for file storage and 80GB on the RAID 0 for daily crap. This is just my main desktop. I also have two external 160GB drives, a laptop with 100GB, and a server with 2 200GB drives in RAID 1. Oh and my firewall computer I think has a 20GB in it (and uses like 1MB).
Just got me a second 500GB Samsung and there are now five Samsung drives in this machine, though the oldest "fifth wheel" 160GB drive is being laid off for another system. I'm a bit of a silence freak when it comes to harddrives and the 500GB's are really impressive as they also perform very well. The only drive I'm not happy with is one of two 250GB's which for some reason vibrates a lot more than the others, so that it's noticeable in spite of some fairly effective rubber block mountings(Nexus DiskTwin). It could warrant a suspension solution, but it's not being used for much else than backups so it's oftenly spun down. Oh, and a little external 250GB, also Samsung, that almost doesn't count.
Not at 5 yet. I just put in another 500GB drive into my D-Link DNS-323 NAS storage box bringing that up to 1 terrabyte, I have 2x300GB SATA drives in my main machine, 2x75GB SATA drives in RAID 0 in my gaming rig, 1 external drive with a 160GB SATA drive, and another with a 200GB drive. Grand total = almost 2 terrabyte.
One 120 Gb Seagate for system and one 320 Gb Seagate for general storage = 440 Gb in total. Thinking to get mode drives to get RAID working
a 200 , a 250 , a 160, and a couple of 80's here. sometimes I wonder what the hell takes up all the space, but it's mostly music and DVD rips.
2.1TB in my file server.... and 1TB in this pc.. this is my fileserver.... why delete anything when hard drives are so cheap? .
WD 250gb SATA + WD 120gb IDE(that I ripped out of an old Tivo i had lying around) is all I have. I also have my lappy on a network for backup of the important stuff. I will be needing some more, but maybe for X-mas of something, I'm broke now.
i just picked me up some new drives recently. 1x74Gb raptor for OS, 1x250Gb WD for daily crap/back-up drive, 1x320Gb Seagate for installing games and other things , 1x500Gb WD for movies and stuff. so....1,144Gb total space.
Not so much PER PC, but I have tons in external drives for backups (religious imaging) and media storage. About 2.3TB.
tipstaff, you and i probably have if WE really wanted to count all the storage space that's at our disposal..... many tb OVER the 5tb mark....
