I only have 200 GB but I would so need more. I just dont have any money to spare on hard drives :/. Tbh, I'd need about 600 GB more
Got about 745GB of formatted storage. Could use some more tbh; damn media extenders are nothing but trouble
2x 75 raptors in raid 0 & 300 gig for storage/swap file on my comp. 100gig 7400 rpm hd with 100 gig 5400 mirror drive for laptop. 160 & 400 gig on wifes. buffalo nas 250 gig for storage & bkup of bkups.
36 Gig Raptor and a WD 320 Gig, at the moment it is just enough. I'm interested in getting a larger Raptor in the near future though. Long term plans - looking forward to solid state storageskies.
 Dude.. probably more. What I mentioned was what I have here at home. I didn't even include the machines at work, nor my laptops. My personal machine at work only has a 160GB drive (and the same goes for the accounting/pos machine), but my business partners machine has 4x500GB drives, and 3 externals: 2 more 500GB, and 1x750GB. He's a huge audiophile nut, and pretty much keeps all his music on them (all of which are APE/FLAC encoded) cuz, "It sounds better playing them off of a hard drive than it does off of a DVD." Uh.. :hmm: yeah... ok. :hmm:
lol tipstaff.. i was meaning stockwise. I'm sure what you've got there would blow the doors off of me (since i only just started getting started) but just sitting for stock right now, i've over 10tb of hardrive space sitting around me.
"Yep, between 1 terrabyte and 5 terrabytes of storage" I have a 160GB and a 500GB HD in my PC, but I also have a 160GB internal and a 550GB external HD on my HDDVR. Altogether that is about 1.32 TB.. I will probably get a 750GB HD to replace the 160GB HD in my PC to give 1.25 TB in the PC alone and 1.91TB total and 2.07TB total if I put the 160GB drive in a media center PC, but I might add that + a 500 to the media center PC so that would give 2.57TB total. HD space is so cheap now, it's great. Is it spelled terabyte or terrabyte? Edit- I think it is terabyte. http://www.digitaldutch.com/unitconverter/index.htm
combined HDD space (well, about few MBs free anyway) of about 1TB. Plus few hundrends CDRs (full) and 100-200 DVDRs, of which only 10 DL, all full. I would love some more HDDs but I just don't trust to have everything only on HDDs. After a recent even with a new external HDD that lost me a couple hundrend GBs. I would love to have something with 1+TB capacity and reliabily so that I am not worried that something will go wrong, it's only a matter of time.
I gotcha. It's funny. At first you think to yourself, "Oh, I'll never need more than 80GB.", but then after a while you get tired of uninstalling games or what not to get more space back, or you get tired of archiving music, and movies weekly. Then it dawns on you, "If I bought a bigger drive.... then I could store more, and I could have more games installed." and so fourth, and so fourth. "Oh.. that'll be enough. I'll never fill it." Yeah.. right. First comes the second 80gb drive. Then you replace both with 2x120gb drives. Then 2x160gb. Then 2x200gb. Then you add an external 200gb. Then you go for 2x300gb (just before the 320gb hits the streets.. at which time you start cursing yourself, cuz you could have gotten 20gb more for the same price, damnit!!!). "Bah.. I hate having to turn on one machine just to share files. Hey.. if I bought myself a NAS storage box I could dump everything to it, and share files all the time! YEAH BABY!" 3tb later.... :duh:
i haven't gotten to that point, but my archived downloads (as i don't download movies or music) is growing with demo/game patches/drivers/windows related crap/etc. i'm nearly @ 200gb in that alone.
The Quad SLi rig has 2 74GB Raptors and the 8800SLi rig has 2 150GB Raptors. All I do with these machines is game.Thats it.The Macbook has an 80Gb HD and I have a 500GB Seagate external HD.
The crazy thing is that on the HD DVR I am consistently up around the 90% mark with 660GB of space. The only reason I didn't get a 750GB single drive is because of limitations of the DVR box. I would easily use 2TB of space or more with that thing. I think tht's where HD space is needed more than a regular PC. When "On-Demand HD" gets more popular maybe the demand for all the HD space will become less (in general) for home theaters.
Answer: What ever they want. Right now I have a 320 and a 80. I will be adding two more 250's in Raid 0 in a new rig. No matter how much space you have you will always use it... Driver are so big and so cheap these days....it's freakin' great. I remember being asked that quetion about my 80 gig. What r u gonna do with all that space?
Rip all my legitimatly purchased DVD movies onto my drives. they're about 4Gb to 9Gb each depending on the movie and if i compress it or not.
Movies, music.. pretty much the same as you. In my case I've dumped it all to my NAS storage box, and I use it to stream that media off to other devices in the house.. or outside of the house. Also, because I do video editing I pretty much need the space for capturing, editing, compressing, and so fourth... even if the majority of time it's only temporarily needed.
