This is a work in progress of a Dune scene I've been creating in Blender. I started working on it a little over a year ago but until recently the project remained "abandoned". I decided to continue improving it and here is a current state, the final scene will look different as there will be a worm "chasing" the harvester.

Thanks. Here is the Shai-Hulud, first version - more work will be done on him.
(it's only a viewport render preview, no antialiasing, no shadows, no raytracing)

I'm going out to see some fireworks now, more updates later :)

Looking nice. Did you base the vehicles on anything else besides the novels' descriptions?

    Very cool pictures.

Only one things make them look a bit weird. Those big carrier/frigate kind of spaceships usually stays in orbit(space) and are being manufactured in space. It takes totally different kind of blow engines to stay over on a planet surface and for that size, requirement would be insane. That makes it look out-of-place.

Put some interceptors or any fighter class ships instead of that big one and it'll look much better(I think).

Actually I haven't read the original novels (yet). I'm making this based on the David Lynch's movie, so I don't have any idea if it is correct look according to the novels.

I don't know if you know Dune, but that big carrier (called Carryall) is quite essential here as it lifts the harvester and carry it to the refinery. As far as I know they don't fly in space and there are no visible engines on it. I don't remember many Carryall scenes from the movie (if there were any at all, I'll have to watch it again :)), maybe the propulsion system is described in the books. I made the it using the pictures here and because there are not many details I made up a few things.

I do know a bit about dune and now it all fits in place. So my mistake then. Anyhow, it just looks wrong, still. :D Perhaps they made mistake with dune?

Who knows, the Dune is set about 20 000 years in the future, so it may look wrong to you :)

Here is the sandworm, updated, with full shading. The Sun is on the opposite side of the worm's mouth so it is quite dark.

Time for another update, the situation is as follows...

Two harvesters are mining deep in the open desert, not knowing that their carryalls were destroyed by Harkonnen forces. When the sandworm appears the only nearby carryall arrives too late, only to try to distract the worm with cannon fire as the harvesters crews are escaping in the scout vehicles...

Yes, except the sky texture (which may be different in future updates), I made that from the first to the last pixel.

@everyone> Thanks, glad you like it :)
