Hmm, not sure if my maximum overclock would even get me entry.

My i5 2500K can reach 4.8Ghz for benchmarking purposes, but nearly all of them can, is it worth an entry? :p

Time to break out the ol' LN system. Oh, wait...
Wasn't it an AMD processor that got overclocked by the highest percentage using liquid helium and all they had to do was boot to Windows?

I remember them setting the absolute highest frequency record, I'm not sure about the highest percentage. Also, just being able to boot and make the validation screenshot is all that's required here as well, as far as I understand, no bench stability conditions mentioned.

The percentage criterion is interesting as it puts a 2GHz CPU @ 5GHz above a 3GHz CPU @ 5.5 or even 6GHz => a chance for really skilled OCers (with great mobos), rather than simply a contest in who has the best 2500k and access to LN.

First person to pick up an E2140 on eBay wins :p

Those things are dirt cheap and will more than double their clock-speed on almost any 775 board, even with the stock cooler. (Found this E1260 on Google Images. 120% OC. Near stock voltages.)

I'd enter my E7200 at 3.8 or so (50% OC), but I can't guarantee my availability that Saturday.

Are Hardware Heaven not making users stick to Air Cooling like Kit Guru?

I've submitted my score but if it's not restricted to Air Cooling then I'll need to put the chip into another board to push it harder on colder temps...

The last entries were between 36% to 149% but bare in mind 2x of these people who were 3rd and 4th in those rankings are no longer on the list as they won the last competition so even the lower clocks won't be considered too bad ;)

Hi Bex, sorry for the late reply, word back from ASUS is that they want to restrict entry to air cooling only. I'm in the process of updating the competition spec.

    Thanks

Hi all, just a reminder that today is the final day for this comp. If you fancy entering it should be a lot of fun.

(There have been a number of decent OC's submitted but I think a couple of you might be able to sneak into the leaderboard if you are available :D )

Eh? None! Unless you count PSUs over the years, in which case, 3. I suppose technically I did OC to death my E2220, too, but Intel replaced that no questions asked (and I sold the replacement).

I have a couple of PCs in my room right now that I have a feeling would qualify me for this. Both C2Ds capable of OCs >50% with air cooling at non-lethal voltage.

My 8500GT has now been running for what must be at least 5 years with a 56% OC flashed to bios (using the stock cooler), but that wouldn't count anyway. Currently resides in my mum's office PC :D

The joys of Oxford exams... I thankfully only ever had one during Postgrad :thumb:

Entered this last week. Given the standard of the KG contest, a reasonable auto OC would have been easy to get in!
