The ATi Catalyst 10.3 does not work with Win XP x86 laptop even after modding with MM. The driver refuses to install with an error. Catalyst installs but doesn't load in Windows.

Without more details about your particular laptop, it's impractical to offer any suggestions.

Dell Studio 1555 w/ ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4570 1GB

I have tried the latest version of mobility modder already.

So, you went to ATI Driver Downloads and selected Windows XP Pro/Home Edition as your Operating System. Then, you selected Notebook as your computer, correct?

Then, you selected Dell as the manufacturer, right?

    And, you got this page:

    737-28041SupportforATIMobility

    with this note:

The laptop manufacturer is the exclusive provider of driver updates. If the required driver update is not available at the laptop manufacturers’ website, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer directly, to see if an updated driver will be made available in the future.
AMD cannot provide driver updates directly from AMD.com.

EDIT: Per the release notes, Windows XP is not supported by ATI for use with mobility cards at this time. Only Vista and Windows 7 are supported currently.

    AMD Mobility Product Support
Catalyst Mobility is a notebook reference graphics driver for with limited support for
system vendor specific features. Support is available for Windows Vista and Windows 7
to be used at your own risk.
The Installation Verification Software will prevent driver download on certain notebook
products. This is to protect against the installing of drivers that may disable features or
functionality provided by the system manufacturer. If unacceptable behavior is
experienced using Catalyst Mobility it is recommended to revert back to the driver
provided by your system vendor for your specific platform. Please contact your system
vendor for the most recent drivers for your notebook.

I thought Mobility Modder was for this purpose. And it obviously isn't working on 10.3 and I suspect it does not work on all of post 10 series of catalyst. The main question here is that when is a new version of Mobility modder releasing that will be able to successfully patch 10,3 and future catalyst updates.

Your best answer would come from posting the question in that forum. I have no experience with it.
