Hi guys. I have an old NCS laptop that used to run Win 2k, but would freeze whenever I opened a Flash video on YouTube. It would also freeze randomly sometimes. It seemed the problem was due to the video driver, which I tried to update several times. It never seemed to help. Recently I upgraded to Win XP. It didn't have the correct display driver, so it defaulted to software emulation. It works very reliably, but hardware acceleration is not there so video is sluggish. I tried installing the old ATI drivers I had saved. It was fast, but again it would freeze on YouTube. I found this site and tried the latest driver. It seems to install OK, but XP does not recognize the display device and display update is sluggish again. I tried to install Catalyst (not knowing any better), but I get a warning with installation report. Here's a snippet of the important bits of the installation report: Catalyst™ Install Manager Installation Report 05/03/11 14:59:57 Name MOBILITY RADEON 9000/9100 IGP Series Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc Device ID 0x5835 Vendor ID 0x1002 Class Code 0x030000 Revision ID 0x00 Subsystem ID 0x0012 Subsystem vendor ID 0x14c0 ATI Display Driver Final Status: Fail Version of Item: 8.841.0.0000 Size: 40 Mbytes Error messages Driver Install: the catalog file is not valid or was not found Any ideas?
