The scene seems to have been set when one one senior ATi mischief maker (who, like one of its previous marketing directors the night before), probably shouldn't have really been anywhere near the NVIDIA party) went out of his way to try and engage with an NVIDIA girl in more than just idle and polite chatter. :D :D

When his opposite number at NVIDIA seemed to decide that there may be some strategic motives against NVIDIA'S interests behind the situation, matters became increasingly tense, and NVIDIA people followed ATi staff outside the Munchner Halle, and its reported that both camps effectively squared up to each other.

    HAH thats great!

Actually when I was at PAX, the ATI and nVidia dudes were bitching at eachother QUITE a bit. nVidia was the main host of that con though (besides penny arcade itself) and so they outnumbered the ATI people badly...but the entire experience was sour. Often times nVidia booth staff would yell out childish insults to ATI users. It was pretty tacky. You'd think that a multi-billion dollar industry would be alittle more mature than that, but whatever I guess thats all you can expect from them. After all, its "the way it's meant to be played." bah.
