THE NEXT generation ATI graphic chip codenamed "Fudo" will increase the number of Shader units from previous generation. When it comes to Shaders, R520 will have quite some fuel to pump those little programs.

We learned that R520 will have eight Shader units. The current R420/R423 generation that come under the X800 brand has six Shader units. These extra two units will certainly speed up shading operations and that's what developers need for endless shading loops.

Looks promissing, hopefully ATI can deliver better yelds with R520 and a better "pro model" from the beginning, x800pro if not modded was not competive enough.

Too bad they never stated thats just 8 vertex shader units so the performance gain won't be that great and what about the pixel pipelines. Also with the R520 going to support Shader Model 3.0+, thats gonna be alot of heat and they will start to showing up with big dustbuster coolers, especially if they have as high of clock speeds as the R420, or maybe they could come stock with water cooling, that would be nice.
