There needs to be a different category for these non-off-roading "SUVs" that will never leave the pavement. You're not going to see them rock crawling like a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The SUV's are not marketed for off-roading. Those would be ATV's and 4-Wheelers. The only thing that makes a vehicle a SUV is this:

SUV "is a generic marketing term for a vehicle similar to a station wagon, but built on a light-truck chassis."

SUV = Sport UTILITY Vehicle. "Utility" being the operative word.

That said, in response to the OP's question: I'm not inclined to go with another "station wagon" look in my next car. I do need the "utility" part, but, I also need more room and luggage area than what I presently have in my PT Cruiser.

Your thoughts on this car are that you don't want a station wagon? That's the only thing stopping you from buying a W12 4WD Bentley? :D

I would have thought, incidentally, that nearly any estate-car (I believe this is what Americans mean by "station wagon"?) or SUV would have more luggage room and utility than a PT Cruiser.
