This is question is about an update for the CUV-4X AsusTek Motherboard. In the description of the BIOS it says "Added Microcode Update" ...What does that mean? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Basically...If I flashed this BIOS, what do I gain? Link

    Here.

Microcode is the instructions that the motherboard needs to run a processor. If they added new microcode ... then they have probably added support for a new processor.

For instance... When I upgraded the BIOS on my old DFI motherboard ... it brought in support for the XP Processor. All that they did was add new microcoding to the BIOS to support the processor.

I hope that this is of some help to you. :)

That is what I am thinking... As new processor come out... Motherboard manufactures need to add coding to increase compatability with there products. :) That is all there is to it.
