yet another game with the infamous shadow problem: Rainbow Six Lockdown
ick, ATi has really disappointed me lately =/
dont knwo how to help, hope you get some:[
hmm have you reported it? first time I've seen any referce that title
I'll test it and report it to the team....
Make sure you report your issues useing the crew feedback form
some the shadow problemspoor shadows in some games that are
useing a for "nvidia only" "optuimzed" way of doing shadows wich
you can blame the devopler and they laugh as they count thier stacks
of nvidia money
How is that a problem, isn't that just how shadows look on the lower quality settings?
ROFL yep shadows are turned down for sure as it looks allmost
perfict with every thing cranked
Yeah I guess I am missing something?? whats wrong with the shadow?
It's not 'soft'. The edges are really blocky, whereas they should have a smoother look...the coloring seems off as well.
Here's some nicer shadows:
I'm telling you the shadows look nice and crisp over here with the settings turned up
try the demo guys and see...
Just the way shadows are rendered. The quality depends on how big the shadow texture is and what card it's rendered on (I doubt they use the same technique for ATi and Nvidia)
Thats what happens when one company pays another off to optimise for their product.
There is nothing wrong with those shadows, but Ubi already has its share of larger ones.
The shadows appear like that in certain angles as far as I remember. For instance, I've seen BF2 shadows look like that in certain angles with a 7800GTX too. So I am not entirely sure it's a problem exclusive to ATI.
Now I'm actually quite pissed, because when I first played this game, shadows in singleplayer looked super sharp and defined. But now that I had this shadow problem during multiplayer, shadows in single player no longer look great... they don't look as bad as in multilplayer, but edges are jagged:
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Rainbow Six: Lockdown
So three games so far with this issue.
i think its just a problem with ubisoft/red storm code.
You might wanna add F.E.A.R to that list since i think shadows at times look like something that ins´t where it should be
try it AA/AF on, v-sync ON etc...
Fable looks nasty on some cards too.
Here you go a cut down a highly conpress jpeg for example of whats
displayed with the demo least for me... can be found here
Yep fable yea there some sort of issue with the shadows but rember
I think it was said all the X1k except X1800 suport fetch 4 and so forth
for better shadows supprt and performance. But the game has to be
programed to make use of it...
My guess is that some game developrs and perhaps or even maybe ATI also didn´t get either drivers or somethin else right with X8XX because now those games don´t look good even with X1K series adn such a big patch is not likely to come since it would mean too much work for EA etc to make for "older" games such as BF2 NFS mostwanted etc.
so they´ll concentrate on newer games for newer tech.
well that is my guess and not much else a guess plain and sinmple
well we´ll see but this much time gone and no patch for NFS i guess that shadow issue is not gonna be fixed wich pisses at least me off since i spent such a sum for taht game well well
not much to do about it
Thanks for your input, but I'm not sure why you insist on making this problem look like it is caused by our somewhat ignorance, or a product of our imagination. I know there are people who don't have this problem, so posting a picture is like rubbing it in our faces like "lol, i don't have this problem". nice, but not very useful. Like I said earlier, the game looked fine when I first played it, but after a few times shadows got screwed up. And this is not the only game with this problem, and I'm not the only one having this problem!
You think so?
I haven't experienced blocky shadows in F.E.A.R. - completely the opposite:
The shadows in F.E.A.R. look awesome ...
(BTW: details @ max ...)
Whereas Battlefield 2 ... urgh ... the shadows are unacceptable for high graphics setting! :annoyed: :bleh:
