It still looks just as bad
So you do know that the shadows are caused by NV's "optimization," correct?
Well I don't understand why Neon doesn't seem to be having the same problem.
This is crazy.
you're probably right
I was reading a review about the 7900GTX. Interesting card, but I found something even more interesting.
^The quote's a link to the source, in case you don't know.
unfortunatly i think i might have fallen foul of the blocky shadows issue.
All the games you are describing to have the shadows issue i don't (i think, most of the games that you are saying have this problem i've got as demos and are not currently on my pc) have this issue.
But on friday i downloaded LOTR:BFME2 (1.36GB Download for a demo!) and i think this contains the blocky shadows issue.
This is what the settings are on LOTR:BFME2 (all maxed out )
This is what the shadows are like
are these shadows blocky for this game?
The only difference i have to make with this game (btw gfx card is always set at AA2X and AF16X) is that i have to run this game in 1280x960 not my normal 1280x1024 as LOTR:BFME2 gives no option to run in 1280x1024. Could that be a reason?
btw LOTR:BFME2 is a nVida optimised game
nvidia cant beat ati for quality so they get programers to code something into there games that works only on there hardware so ATI cards quality suffers
its a bad circle of horrors NVIDIA IS BAD BAD BAD they make me SICK!
in BFMEII tha shadows in NV are excactly the same !!!so its not till now an ATI problem and we have to see images from NV cards to compare the quality
Marketing drivel. In reality it is: "We pay the game makers big bucks. That's why today's hottest games are developed on NVIDIA, to be played on NVIDIA."
It's called business, it's dirty tricks and whatnot, it's sole purpose to make $$$s. Make them at the least effort necessary to stay ahead of the competition (or try to).
True, true ... :tears:
it would be nice to get at least a word from ATI.
some other people having the same issue http://www.elitebastards.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=175066
Last time I emailed ATI they said they were going to look into it.
When I emailed EA they said thats how the game works.
Why is this still a sticky ?
its not like EA are going to fix it.
thanks for your help, virus
He! I hate EA! ... but it's not like that everyone hates EA and therefore I hate them, too.
At first, they disappoint me with C&C Generals: The game is suffering from a lack of innovation and serious bugs - people who've also had that "Serious problem"-error definitely know what I'm talking about. :tears:
Then, the support for naval units have not been integrated although it would have given the game a fresh new way of fighting your opponents in MP. (thank god, the Act of War expansion finally makes this possible )
Secondly, the C&C - The first Decade is a complete mess: My favorite C&C called Red Alert 1 can't be played on my PC ... no, this is not an assumed XP-problem. It is more like my brand new LCD monitor can't display this low game resolution ...
A pity that EA has not made any improvements on this old game but this is truly typical for them!
Thirdly, they've really dared to announce that they're not going to support NFS:MW any more ... oh, thank god that I don't own this game. This would have made me really sick then ... :hmm:
And, oh yes, the Battlefield 2 expansions suck! Special Forces, a disgrace, especially Euro Forces, what a ... :x
And there is not to forget the buggy main program Battlefield 2: Improved and made worse at the same time by thousands of patches!!
But hey, there is a new Battlefield-game on the way to us: Possibly, this brings this flood of patches to an end and shuts down the official support for Battlefield 2 as well! :bleh:
Someone still awaiting futher EA games here?
Oblivion also has this shadow problem on my Radeon x800xt
I dont know if it will work for you, but in my case putting 2x temporal AA in NFSMW maked dissapear the blocky shadows, I dont own BF2, but maybe it can work! try
If youre talking about "self-shadows" its a bug - the same thing happens on nvidia cards. Try turning self-shadows off and if that fixes it - dont worry, wait for a gamepatch.
