Awesome score on a AIW 9700pro.

To my best knowledge, the AIW series does not perform as well as the non-AIW series cards. It's like 10% less of a performer than it's counterpart. Is that true Vampy?

No, as far as I know, they are evenly matched. The AIW 9700Pro had the same core/mem clocks as the plain 9700Pro, same #of pixel pipes, same #of mem controllers. Some AIW's after that even had higher clocks than their plain counterparts :)

Here's a an eas yway for many free points. Install Win2k with DX8.1 (don't install DX9 gives lower scores). Then use the new tweak discovered by the guys over at XtremeSystems. Go into device manager and change your computer from ACPI Uniprocessor to ACPI Multiprocessor, apparently increases heatout at idle (load is about same), but it gives a very nice FPS boost in 2001.

How are you guys getting those kinds of scores...what kind of OCing are you doing on a 9700 Pro w/XP 2600s (or around that level) and such to get 20K?

    My system is:
    Abit AT7-Max2
    XP 2700+
Powercoler 9700 Pro (I don't know why I bought from them, I hate them, but performance doesn't seem faulty)
1GB PC2700 Kingston Value ram, 2.5 for the timing
    2x WD800JB Caviar SE drives on a Raid-0 Array

And I've always gotten around 14K. I can understand getting up to 15K or something by doing some significant OCing...but 20K?

whats wrong with powercolor? I got my SE from them and its great!

anyway I have 512mb Geil PC3200 RAM with 2-2-2-11 If you have an nforce2 board I STRONGLY suggest you set the last value to 11. It can drastically increase speeds. I gained 200mb bandwidth in sandra when i switched from 2-2-2-2 to 2-2-2-11

now as far as my harddrive. its a standard PATA 7200rpm 8mb cache. Theres nothin special about it. I keep it well defragged...I run a RAM cleaner before doing the tests...I kill background services etc etc. If you really want to gain some marks, use tuneXP. That'll gain you lots of marks there...especially if you enable the "Benchmark only" options. I warn you though...those can get annoying when you arent benchmarking.
