I downloaded the win9x version and installed it on my pc. But while playing Morrowind, it was like I had 5FPS while with the official 4.2 I have about 40-85 FPS. When I walk in morrowind it skips parts. I've uninstalled them because morrowind is a game I play a lot. And it was unplayeble wit hthe omega's.

to install or not to install...

    hmmm,
I agree with a few posters here. My smartgart has always been on for my 9700pro.
never had a problem with it.
as for softmod, I always installed using it. any ideas what we`ve lost with it ?
not sure whether to install or not.

anyone with a 9700pro notice any downsides ?

    OK

I installed those just 2 hours ago. I did so just because I want and I need 1600*1200@100Hz, something that catalyst doesn't offer to me.
It's fine on this point, I could have my precious. But ...
But I had to uninstall and get back to catalyst 4.2. I'm on XP, and it was just not possible to open a menu or any other fancy looking thing without thinking of a 1" slideshow. Imagine you get this notify ballon appears above your systray, and that each opacity changing step takes about 1 or 2 seconds. You just get mad.

    So two things :
    - can't use those drivers with my ati radeon 9700pro (full spec' end of msg) because too sloooooow (maybe fw ?)
    - give me the way to have my precious (1600*1200@100hz) with normal drivers (ati supports can't answer, reforce did not work, multires neither ...)

    Thx

    Full spec:
    os: xp sp1
    athlon 2700+/a7n8x-dx/1go corsair
    9700pro w/catalyst 4.2
(and iiyama a201ht (vision master pro) that needs 100hz)

Thankyou Omega and ChrisW. This is the best set yet. Played UT, UT03, UT04, XMP, GR. Looks good and smooth performance.

The optimizations that Omega had in his 9700 > 9800 softmod were put into the ATi drivers by default several releases ago. There is no need for the Omega softmod now.

    Re: 9800SE shut off?

Please guys, READ the README carefully!!!
I just removed the option for 9700 cards, NOT 9800SE, that one still there

    Read the main post again...

Install the latest AGP chipset drivers after you install my drivers.

My card is a Radeon 9700
Anyway, read the main post again...

The drivers are slow because SmartGart didn't initialized or AGP acceleration was disabled by Windows, until SG initializes or AGP is enabled, ALL drivers are like this.
Just install the latest AGP chipset drivers after the driver installs and you will be ok.
BTW, I'll invstigate the 1600x1200@100 issue...

I have the latest AGP drivers for my motherboard. Andthe problem with morrowind is only with the 4.2 omegadrivers. Other games do work well

Is not just the fact of having the AGP drivers installed, the problem is that sometimes windows disables AGP acceleration when insatlling new drivers and you need to RE install the AGP chipset drivers to recover the speed.
As for Morrowind, I'll check it out here on Windows 98SE and see if the problem is there...

I've had it on and off with my system and never noticed much in the way of difference.

Does anyone know if Omega's changes will overwrite BIOS level enabling/disabling of them? If not then those who want/need fast wriites can enable it there...

Just when you thing there can't be anymore surprises for the weekend, Omega comes and makes my day :)
Another great day for me. I am now a Godfather and I got these sweet drivers in same day :)
Everything works flawlessly and UT2k4 demo was like a candy with these drivers. I liked official 4.2 but because this set brings separate OpenGL ja D3D settings and Radclocker, you simply can't miss these.

Omega, God bless you (and my Godchild)

Sweet sweet set. Thank you so much omega for all of your hard work.

Question, I use rage 3d tweak, for in game adjustments and such, and have it set to o/c card. Should I also tell radlinker to initiate also, it shows current rage oc in settings, but should I turn radlink on also..

    Thanks again

    God Bless

I think using 3d tweak makes installing Omega's pointless because it overwrites his custom tweaks... It's in the read-me I believe.

    That's right...
If you use ANY of the included profiles in R3D tweak, they will override most of my settings. You'll be better off using Radlinker, it can enable OC for each game profile, just like R3DT does.

I have the new omegas installed, how do i overclock my 9600SE? I've tried to overclock with other programs and they say i need a softmod cause the 9600's are locked against overclocking. do i need to install the softmod option on the omega driver installation?

No need to use soft mods, the normal driver on my set already unlocks overclocking on all cards.
