I just came back from a pharmacy and supermarket "trip".
I had the pneumococcus vaccine and two bags of shopping.
It was so depressing. The roads were busy, lots of people walking or waiting outside the stores (new rules allow shops to open only if they sell the items without the customer going in. So you call or order online and then arrange when to go and get them without going inside.
About 10% of all the people were either wearing masks with their nose outside and about .5% without any mask.
So many stupid people, it's depressing to see it.

A high school friend's big brother has died. :( It's the second person that I've known that passed away from covid in the last couple of weeks (the first one was a friend's father). Not to go into details, but he hadn't been dealt the best hand since birth and I am quite saddened by his passing, even though we weren't close.

Sorry to hear that. Did he died just from Covid or had any other conditions?

Thanks for caring, guys. He was born with a disability, that is he remained short of stature and used a wheelchair to move (that's why I said that he hadn't been dealt the easiest hand in life), but other than that, I didn't know him as sickly and I was not aware of any other conditions he may have had. He was hospitalized with a severe case of pneumonia, so, while I can't exclude a hearth condition or something else that I wasn't aware of, as far as I know, it was COVID.

That poor guy had to overcome a lot of things in life, especially here where, even now, making things accessible to disabled people is often an afterthought, yet he managed to get through university, get a nice job... but just couldn't catch a break.

EDIT: Stay safe, guys. The two of us here will probably stay home tomorrow night. We had a plan to invite one more couple for dinner, but since the better half's office mate had a risky contact some 15 or so days ago, and his own test came back inconclusive twice, we cancelled (BTW, one of the two that were supposed to come has a 104 year old grandma that can still get up five flights of stairs so we all wanna se her make it to 200 :) ).

BTW guys, if you can, please make sure to have the pneumococcus vaccine done. It could help a lot.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been out for a little while now, And the Oxford-AstraZeneca has only just been approved for use this week and don't start to role out untill monday..

I will have it either way but no idea how long it will be for me to be called up.

Who will get the vaccine first?
Broadly, vaccines are being given to the most vulnerable first, as set out in a list of nine high-priority groups, covering about a quarter of the UK population.

They are thought to represent 90-99% of those at risk of dying from Covid-19.

    1. Residents in care homes for older adults and their carers
    2. 80-year-olds and over and frontline health and social care workers
    3. 75-year-olds and over
    4. 70-year-olds and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
    5. 65-year-olds and over
    6. 16- to 64-year-olds with serious underlying health conditions
    7. 60-year-olds and over
    8. 55-year-olds and over
    9. 50-year-olds and over
People aged over 80 in hospital, frontline health staff and care home workers have been the first to get the Pfizer jab at 70 designated hospitals hubs across the UK.

Vaccination has now begun in care homes, which the government announced on 23 December.

The second phase of vaccination will focus on the rest of the population, mainly the under-50s, who are much less likely to be ill with Covid-19.

Teachers, transport workers and the military could be prioritised at that point, but more data on how well the vaccines are working will be needed before that decision is made.

It could be well into 2021 before this phase begins.

Similar plan here. Good luck. I may not be allowed to get the vaccine due to a blood condition, so we will see.

I have been given a link from a family member, 100 % Reliable... For the Over 80's can get the vaccine without the letter from the NHS or the GP surgery... Sorry i will not share the link as it is for Nottingham Only..

I Now have my Father booked in for sunday morning... :)

And due to the reason he is Vulnerable, Due to Mobility / Alzheimer's (Including Understanding) and can not look after himself properly, He Needs a Carer to look after him. As i am currently living with him i am classed as his carer for his well Being.. (Don't Get me Wrong on this He Comes First)

From what i have seen this bumps me up the cue massively...

you don't go to the toilet anymore... you just bring some extra clothing for when you get off the plane, or bring some depends.

One of my co-workers is really sick. His oxygen saturation was down to 40 and was close to being put on a mechanical ventilator. It has jumped back to almost normal, but... I really need some more good news, he's an awesome guy.

EDIT: Our government has published its three-phase vaccination plan. It turns out that, according to the plan, if you're under 65, healthy and not a medical worker, cop or something like that, you can get your shot, if you wish, if there are enough doses, never. Not once is this population even mentioned.
