It's contagious, there is no immunity and no vaccine... It's far from the end of the world, but for a while, it won't be pretty. America is now the country with the highest number of active cases.
This is creepy. Not my video. Recorded at one of the busiest parts of my city, Thessaloniki. Usually you see 100s of cars pass in few minutes and 1000s of people in the area walking. Now a handful of cars and that's it. The country is under lockdown and you go outside of your home you need an official ID and a form you need to fill in, or SMS giving you the permission to be outside, with details where exactly and when you are going.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak's press conference to announce government support for self-employed people affected by coronavirus has finished. Here’s what we learned: Self-employed people will be able to apply for a taxable grant to cover 80% of average monthly profits over the last three years Support will be capped at £2,500 per month, available to those with with a trading profit of less than £50,000 last year More than half of a claimant's income needs to come from self-employment, and they must have a tax return for last year The scheme will initially cover three months, backdated to March, and be paid as a lump sum in June Mr Sunak said support was being targeted "at those who need it most" and the self-employed "have not been forgotten" Well as going by the mixed messages of stay at home, And other MP's saying go to work if you can not work from home... (That is Me) I went Back to work today, I am doing the very best to do the social meeting distance....
Good luck, Mig! Hopefully the number of cases and the number of contacts you'll have are low enough that you won't be at a significant risk.
Hope so, I do want to respect the orders. 1) Knock on the door and then stand well back... and ask if it is ok for us to continue (So it's left up to the them) If they say no, then fair enough. 2) I have set up a Card with my Bank Details & Info, So a Bank Transfer is a Priority, Just so it can be shown on my phone through a window and photo can be easily taken... I am constantly watching the news to see if we end up in a full lock down (Possibly Will) to see how things go.
Sorry to ask but could you explain what that means in layman terms? I did not have time to follow this political part of the outbreak plus I am not much into politics anyway. Thanks!
As far as I understand, the president said that individual states should take care of themselves (meaning that the states will need to buy the medical supplies they need themselves), then used the federal purchasing power to outbid the states when they tried to buy the supplies (the federal government, being richer than the states, offered more money to manufacturers and bought the supplies that the states need), and then said that the federal government will help those states who "treat the federal government well" (he has not elaborated what he meant by that). Essentially sounds like blackmail.
The Main Supermarkets I am registered at... Sainsburys Delivery Slots: Fully Booked. Asda Delivery Slots: Fully Booked. Tesco's Delivery Slots: Fully Booked. Morrisons Delivery Slots: Fully Booked. Trying to look after a old man of 87 is getting harder by the day....
Yeah, here the largest chain opens the orders for the date 6 days ahead at midnight and all the slots get booked quite quickly. That's... beyond disturbing.
I thought of ordering supplies online. The earliest a supermarket can deliver is end of April. I will just bite the bullet and go to one tomorrow. I have to admit, I am more bored by the idea of going there, than afraid I might catch something.
Good point too! I actually need watch it again. It has been long time and I can not even remember the whole movie.lol
I went to the super market today. Short lines outside, only allowing a handful of people/customers at a time. I kinda like it. You finish with your shopping much quicker than before. One use gloves have re appeared. Still no sign of dettol sprays though. Everything else was in stock. I made sure to buy plenty of food for at least 7 days. If not for the economic disaster that this lock down brings, I am fine with it.
