Didn't know where to post this, but since its MS related, I figured here was just as good a place as any. Have any of you other guys had your firewall or other program tell you that "You or another program has requested information from crl.microsoft.com do you wish to allow the connection?" This just started happening recently, but I can't pinpoint what I installed that is doing it. I try loading the site from another machine in the house, and get the "You do not have permission to access this site" message. What in the bloody hell is it? Any clues anyone?

    Not sure about this.
i would try to allow/permit to the access requests,
or if you use firewall products from norton like NPF or NIS you can select "automatically configre.." and then monitor the connections from the program's log viewer.

it'll make you feel better after read this, i hope.

Product activation server? Wonder what its trying to activate? Its weird, according to the link to that site that you gave me toddsmack2k, the site was running Server 2003 until February, when it switched back to Win 2k. Does installing the .NET framework require some form of activation? I had to install it to get some of the software I have to function and now that I think about it, thats also about the time this "phone home" problem started. Oh well, I just blocked access to the IP address listed on the site. Problem solved, thanks Todd.

It's trying to check certification of your drivers or something. It's a WHQL thing. It's not required for functionality of your pc though, so if you deny it access, it won't make a difference.
