We have been getting alot of comments recently about the sites performance being slow. We added today an accelerator to the site which will hopefully help with speeds and loading. Of course the ads are out of our control as they run from an ad server, but id like to hear from our members if the site speed has improved today, you can either report in this thread on our forums (click view article comments) or of course you can use our feedback forum which is there to report any problems our members are having.

    Thanks.

The site is mighty snappy for me. But then, speed on this site has never really been much of a problem, not to me anyway. It's always been very responsive, now it's just more so. :) Thanks Z.

Yes speed greatly improved. Im using mozilla firebird and it hangs on loading itxt.vibrentmedia.com I guess its an ad server im on a full T1 line and once that ad it up it loads very fast just have to wait about 8 seconds on that one ad before the page will load

Yup, discernably quicker - but that's here at work and I can't say more because it's so fast anyway. Let you know from home in several hours...

the itxt is actually the intellitxt options on the front page. they all should load last along with the ads, so even if they are slower than the main site, it shouldnt hold you up.

I did notice a difference before i even read this post. I thought my browser was caching the pages! So yup I have noticed a significant difference.

The main page is flagged non-cacheable by the server even with the "accelerator".

Just now, what I'm getting is a nearly blank front page for about 8 - 10 seconds before I see any text. The only thing showing is DH Banner across the top. Earlier, the front page was loading almost instantly. This may be what David was describing, but I'm not sure.

That's correct. All our pages are marked this way as the entire site serves dynamic content - so caching them would be futile.

However, the PHP compiled scripts are cached on the server which is where the speed increase is coming from. The new cache we have installed has no effect on content sent to your browser.

So what you are seeing is normal :)

Whatever was delaying the front page display during my previous post, it's taken care of now. Really nice and zippy.

If I may ask, how dynamic is the DH content to begin with? Is every page load greatly different from each other to prefer disabling all caching?

From taking a very quick look there are content on DH which could be regarded as (semi-)static, but gets flagged as non-cacheable because of dynamic scripting not taking steps to keep them (semi-)static.

TBH, what I see now is possible waste of bandwidth and speed because of too dynamic site.
