I adored these things when I was a kid and I still find them fascinating. It's amazing to find oneself standing next to something that had existed maybe 200,000,000 years ago, eons before anything resembling our own species appeared. And the looks of these things... Megaraptor (notice the claw, total length up to 45cm :duh: The meat-eater in the next two pictures is called Giganotosaurus. One hundred million years old, with the height of 5m, 15m of length and weighting 8t, it was bigger even than Tyrranosaurus Rex. The scull itself is 2m long.
I'm glad you like them, I couldn't believe when I heard that this exhibition would be held in my city. Here goes:
This one shows the scale of things nicely. Fortunately for the pray, as with other dinosaurs, the huge head of Abelisaurus housed a chicken brain: I can't but wonder if paleontologists really know what each of these animals actually looked like. If I remember well, the only part of this particular Alvarezsaurus that was actually found was the wing lying at it's feet. Lakumasaurus (in the photo as well as the illustration below it) was one mean looking creature, it kind of reminds me of the eels from "Little Mermaid":
Gorgeous, thankyou soo much man, I love them all. I like the Jurassic and Cretaceous creatures very well represented. I always wanted to make a life like sculpture out of jade.
No problem, nice to see them that appreciated. I hope you'll get round to doing that jade sculpture one day. If I'm not mistaking, that's one art form we haven't had on Heavenly Visions.
Excellent pictures Ivan thanks for sharing them with us. Always been an interest of mine as well as anything to do with astronomy
Thanks. I took these about a month ago and I've been meaning to post them since then, I should have known that there were more dino-lovers around here.
