Does anyone know foreign languages? If so, which ones? I want to start learning a language, I think of French. But I don't know where to start.

I speak English as a first language Welsh as a second, I am fluent in kitchen French (my job from school was as a classicality trained French chef)and when lockdown started I began a dualingo course in Spanish.

Why French, as opposed to _________(fill in the blank)?

I ask this since knowing another language is a fine endeavor. However, unless you're actually going to be USING that language to converse with people on a regular basis, I question the purpose for doing so.

I would suggest finding out what other nationalities of the population are in your area and, perhaps, getting to know some, work with them to learn their language.

English obviously, did school level French but can only recall a small amount of that. Last year or two I have been learning Japanese. Just for the challenge really, I would like to be fluent in a language that is quite different to English. They say you need about 1000 words to be fluent in another language, I'd estimate I am at about 300 words currently - though I do tend to find that the vocabulary I learnt 3 months ago just falls out as I learn new ones :D
