We hear a lot about energy production and consumption lately (green energy vs rest of the world, influence of crypto-mining on power consumption and the environment - the miners are making direct contracts with nuclear plants, outright buying coal plants, etc), so I thought I'd open a thread for that. The particular thing that triggered me was what I just learned (I work with our power grid operator) that the price of electricity on the international market has quadrupled in the last two months, from 50€/MW to 200. Apparently, the production of power from wind has been at an unprecedented low (as if the wind stopped blowing in all of Europe). Today, wind seems to be going strong, but the prices are still up. If it stayed this way, for us here in Serbia, the prices for end consumers would go up 2.5x (and you can imagine how all the other prices would go crazy).
