Garmin has issued a worldwide recall of some Nuvi GPS units; citing fire risks from batteries which may overheat. The recall encompasses 1.25 million units worldwide. So far ten cases of overheating batteries have been recorded but nobody has been injured and there has been no significant damage caused as a result.

Owners of the Nuvi 200W, 250W and 260W as well as the Nuvi 7xx series may be included in the product recall. Only certain GPS units within a specific range need to be recalled and Garmin has set up a website for users to identify whether they fall into this category.
