There was a time when graphics chips were able to be passively cooled with a small heatsink. Those days are gone as graphics processing units (GPUs) have become increasingly complex and dissipate quite a bit of heat. The recent generations of graphics processors have TDP’s that exceed 100 watts so things can get a bit toasty—even with stock cooling. While most graphics cards come with adequate stock cooling there’s always the noise factor. Recent high end graphics cards such as the Radeon X1800/X1900 and GeForce 7800/7900 come with coolers that can get quite loud in intense gaming situations. _____________________ Read More/Source: Sudhian
Reading now...here's a couple more... This one has "issues." VF900 review w/ Accelero on 7800GT http://www.virtual-hideout.net/revi...900/index.shtml and VF900 and Accelero on 7800GTX http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=525
The Thermalright cooler looks good but it also doesn't cool the ram. I also don't know about adding more weight to it by adding a fan to the bottom. Thermalright does have a memory cooling kit for it but it's still mostly passive. Also wouldn't the fan blow down on top of the card? I'm still leaning towards the Zalman solution.
I like the Zalman since it more compact, and especially with us DFI users the Accelero heats up our chipset.
Yeah that's nasty... Pity they stopped the rear exhaust since that is what I loved about AC... And Jodiuh, what issues? I didn't find anything...
