So I ordered a keyboard and a cable from a mediamrkt. It was the cheapest by like 30%.
But it said 1-3 days. That was yesterday. I called them today to ask for an update and was told the cable is ready, but the keyboard is not and I will receive them both by the end of next week.
Even though it is the cheapest and perhaps the fastest for the same items, it pissed me off that 1-3 days turned into 7-8 days and I canceled the order.

    Did I over react?
I would do the same again.
    Hmm.

I would have just rolled with the punches and gotten them either way; if the price is right what can you do?

Glad I am not alone in this. I mean I can understand an extra day, I could even accept that the weekend is not included, but that's about it.

jebus... you'd die from the stress and anger if you consider those delivery times unacceptable if you lived here.

Not exactly. I can be very relaxed to the point someone might swear at me and me not give a f, and times when someone looks at me weird and I am anything but holding back. All within the same few minutes.

Just to clarify @Judas I wouldn't live there if I had to deal with such delays, not that I have anything against your part of the world.

It's not the whole country, Canada is a 1st world country. It's just his little town. But he is a farmer, although I am sure if he really wanted to he could live in the city.

I'm in the over-reaction camp... Unless the item is needed now, you just have to role with the punches in this new world order of COVID. Plus, if you are ordering online for a now item it probably is out of desperation and as such can you just afford to cancel the purchase? No site will give you accurate delivery times in this new reality

It's 2020. You know what you have in store, especially if you do business online. You can't say you have something in stock and at the same time after the customer orders it, say you will have it in a week. If you can have it in a week, have that info showing. Not that it is ready to ship now.
No excuses, unless you have a small shop and your server is your old Pentium 3 which is run by your 11 yo nephew.

    Current Year utilization detected...

not every business has precise stock information... even in another 10 years, we still won't.

you have any idea how much retail inventory systems cost usually that meet ALL the requirements for the various countries/regions/state/province certification and legal problems? there's a reason i still don't have a computerized till and still write out paper recipes after 14 years in business.

As I mentioned in the first post, we are talking about MediaMarkt . A very large company with at least 1000 stores in Europe.
This has nothing to do with anyone being able to know what they have or not.
This is a tactic used by many to draw in customers and their orders, knowing full well in advance they can't complete the orders immediately, only to rely on the customers giving up and waiting the extra time. Nothing new. Nothing honest.
