1. Run 10.2 driver, let it extract into c:/ATI/SUPPORT - but cancel the installation once the driver is extracted. 2. Run Mobility Modder - browse to the driver in C:\ATI\Support\10-2_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu - hit modify. Wait until driver is modified. 3. Open Device Manager, find your video card or VGA controller.. Right click and select Update Driver.. 4. Select Advanced 5. Deselect search removable media, Select Include this location in the search,Click Browse to C:\ATI\Support\10-2_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Packages\Drivers\Display\XP_INF\ Click ok. Click next... Continue anyway. 6.Restart. 7.Run Setup.exe in C:\ATI\Support\10-2_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\ - Customize install - Deselect Ati display driver. - Install.. - Restart Good luck.. it worked for me. :w00t:
Tried it hours ago when the driver was first released. It didn't work for me. It said there was a problem with the .inf file. I am running Windows 7 x64. Maybe it works for XP. Good to hear it worked for you.
Nope, dual 3870's. I tried it again and the exact error is "A service installation section in this INF is invalid."
Doesn't work for me, 2x M88-XT (aka the Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2) on Windows 7 x64. I get the same error message that I already reported for 10.1: "A service installation section in the INF is invalid."
If step 5 worked we wouldn't be here complaining anyway. In any case your using XP 32 bit. Driver update via Device Manager fails almost immediately on Win 7 x64. Please don't make posts with general headings as yours. You waste a lot of peoples time.
Hi, It worked for me. Asus laptop, F3ka, with ATI mobility radeon hd 2600 first mod the drivers, then install the driver trough device manager, then install only the CCC. thanks
thought it was going to work At first it wasn't going to let me. It said the best driver for this device was already installed. So i did it again "update driver" and then click the other button that says "let me pick from a list" and then click "have disk" and pick the modded folder it was doing a lot of processing and then i thought it would be done but it said it found an error in the INF. at least it didn't touch anything and left me with the original windows driver.
Hi, I'm using Win XP Pro 32-bit and I tried your method with 10.3 drivers. Everything went fine but I can't open Catalyst Control Center. It simply won't open when I tried to. Do you have any idea why is this happening?
Ignore what I have said previously. I installed 10.3 drivers for my graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600) using this method. Thanks a lot Kingwows.
