    I thought we were over these kind of problems. I guess we should expect most major manufacturers to issue similar announcements, since the problem is not the actual batteries, but the cells contained inside, which are usually manufactured by a 3rd party OEM somewhere in Japan or China, and as usual, Chinese manufacturers tend to cut corners. Most quality cells are made in Japan, even the battery is in fact assembled in China.

    Best cells are in my opinion the Sanyo ones, made in Japan. They can survive up to 1000 cycles, while most other ones, just around 300 cycles.

    Japanese tech products usually equal to quality (like the capacitors on motherboards). As for this incident, it reminds me of the Dell incident in the past with faulty/exploding batteries. I guess it's cheaper to recall than to upgrade/improve the designs?
