Any of you has direct or indirect experience with hypnosis?

I always thought it was BS, but I have an open mind.
I want to find out something and as this, if not bs, could be the only way of helping, I wonder if it is something I would look into.

OK so I have long term diagnosed PTSD

At one point or another Hypnosis was tried

I went through it and for a year or so i actually had peace and then it wore off or stopped working ..I don't know

Its an effective tool I think bit only if its maintained its not a quick fix

    Thank you.
I don't want to use it to treat me of whatever.
I want it for one simple thing. Something in my past, to find out if it happened or I imagined it/dreamt it. Do you think it can do that?

It's not BS, but, regarding what you have in mind, I believe that the more recent studies have shown that it's very easy to (inadvertently) create false memories while trying to retrieve real ones. That means that you might be able to retrieve the desired memory under hypnosis, but the factuality would not be guaranteed.

I have read and seen that under hypnosis person can reach out to the past and get into some trauma experiences etc. but I am not sure how it would work for memories only, would these memories be true ones? Mind is an incredible machine and how would we know if the reached memories were not kind of dreams?

    Did you do it?

My understanding of regression therapy (which uses hypnosis) is that you need to be careful as memory is highly suggestible, fluid. Regression therapy can solidify false memories. Stories you hear about families being torn apart because of a child that accused a parent of something horrendous because they "remembered" it during regression therapy, only to, in the end, be nothing more than a story they read, a dream, or a scene from a movie or tv show... no thanks.

What the others have said in re: to suggested/perceived memories. I, for myself, would not trust something that was "discovered" while under hypnosis.

    I haven't done it yet.
I already have a memory and want to discover if it is true or not. If it actually happened or if I imagined it.
So I was wondering if I decide to do this, would it be a waste of time/money or not.
More and more it sounds like a time travel machine would be a better investment for this.

Yes it can but its also very easy to make you think you remember things you dont but all that should be explained before you start, a lot will depend on how good your Hypnotherapist is

    Thank you.

Well, it's not something that happened (or not) decades ago, probably about 8 years, so with a bit of luck in the quality of the person, I might get a good answer.

Now, let's wait for the pandemic to end.

My old Boss once said to me Time Travel is impossible it cant be done ..

I said (and I paraphrase here for simplicities sake)

Once upon a time the greatest minds in the scientific world said we would never sail around the world then we did

they said we would never fly we did

they said we would never break the sound barrier we did

they said we would never go to the stars we did

they said we would never land on another planetary object we did

    and so on

Something is always impossible until it isnt anymore so its not possible now (or is it) but one day some guy or girl in a shed will make that breakthrough and boom

Exactly my thinking about everything. My favorite subject being travel between star systems. Yes we don't have the theoretical solution or of course technology to do it now, but that doesn't mean it will always be like that.
Theories change, knowledge changes, technology changes. What was once unthinkable, it's now a reality.

It seems to me that the only one condition needs to be met if/when we do travel back in time .

We would not be able to interact with the "present' of where we go as if we did , we would create different "realities' each time we go back and change things.
I mean going back and changing things that would affect future. As many visits as many different new "futures" because of the changes we made.

I do not know how is that being explained if "interactive" time travel was possible.
