Jeremy Clarkson's contract will not be renewed after an "unprovoked physical attack" on a Top Gear producer, the BBC's director general has confirmed. ____________________ Source: bbc
Clarkson is an ass, an entertaining one but still! I couldn't give a shit about the 'slope' gag or the other manufactured offence. If it is the case though that he punched a producer because the guy didn't do his job as well as he should have then I see no real option other than the BBC to terminate his contract. People lose their rag, happens all the time, if it had all happened behind closed doors it could have been sorted out internally but someone decided to make it a thing. That means there is no other choice than the one that was taken. Top Gear was a fun show, at odds with the PC ultra-liberal corporation that the BBC has become. It was only a matter of time, it was a great ride.
I'm gonna miss what Top Gear used to be, all of the laughs and the fun times. I never ate or drank while watching that show because I never knew when Jeremy was going to make me lose it and spit all over my screen. We'll see if he retires now or moves on to hopefully bigger and greater things.
I think May said it the best when he was interviewed by Guardian. Don't have the article here for quote but I bet Google is our friend. Anyway the new Top Gear will have all new hosts.
I think this has been coming for a long time. They've just waited for him to give them a real cause to sack him. Sadly enough for him he eventually did. In all honesty he's burned his own bridges over time. Myself I've liked him less and less over time due to his abundant sexist comments and such that really fit's more in the 19th century than today. I've been expecting this for quite sime time so it doesn't really come as a surprise.
I find his sense of humor entertaining and embrace it. He stands for a certain sentiment and feeling that lots of people from his generation embrace as well. if he is a dinosaur then he is Trex..lol. Piss off all the wankers and whiners and nannys that were routinely appalled at his jokes and opinions. I for one cant wait till we see him again.
LOL...indeed Neshi, his comments are as current now as such sentiment a hundred years ago. I am amazed at people who wish for tolerance, a nanny like form of self imposed political correctness and insist on extoling the virtues of personal freedom. If the do gooders and tree huggers had their way we would be a socially impotent world that would be consumed by self importance and a false sense of security. I welcome the Jeremy Clarksons of the world and enjoy their pompous and bombastic rants, with a twinge of humor. The greatest crime of crimes in our society is hypocrisy.
He simply cannot be stopped. I can cite numerous forms of music genre that cross the racial, political and sexual margins and yet we call it entertainment. I find Jeremy Clarkson to be "entertaining". He is not trying to make anyone a victim, but there are professional victims out there that all cry out for compensation and a free ride based on "hurt feelings", RUBBISH!!! He is as British as I remember anyone from the UK and I love it.
So anyone that is trying to get a rise out of people by being controversial or saying something provocative is bad? Sometimes you have to look at yourself and be able to laugh... The Joker said it already: Why so serious?
I have never said that. Sometimes it's necessary. What I'm saying is that in his case it's not. He takes cheap shots and it's all getting really really old. Why not try and be a bit innovative instead, think something new up. Sadly enough I don't think he's capable of that. But I've never been a fan of his anyway.
same reason AC/DC keep doing what they do, churning out what they do that's what the fans want. the most watched factual television programme int the whole world, by some considerable margin why mess with a winning formula?
