    now i'm using the old creative sound blaster live 5.1 platinum . I want to upgrade to creative SB audigy 2 ZS but i was wondering if i can connect my live! IR drive to this new one. Audigy 2 ZS platinum has. so i think that it should be able too. Any one trying this before? may be i need some hardware configuration?

    see guy.. this Live IR is just an extension for SBLive 5.1 platinum card. as well as SB audigy 2 ZS paltinum. there must be some '#%^$' for this stuff.

    i've read some topic on this forum tells.. for those who have the creative sound blaster live/audigy can be modify to an audigy 2?? so how about the 24 bit since the Live card only 16 bit??

    :confused:

    Please help me.

    you can create a custom cable to connect the audigy 2 to the live drive IR as long as the audigy card has the AD_EXT connector
    however, the converters on the live! drive are only 16 bit afaik, so 24 true 24 bit recording is impossible using thte live! drive

    It would be really useful for you to try connecting LiveDrive IR to your Audigy2 card. First you'll have to make custom cable, like dj_stick mentioned. See pinout for the AUD_EXT (Live! Drive) connector, than comare it to the AD_EXT connector. There has been al least one user on this forum who confirmed that this is possible! Dont't worry about 96khz/24bit recording, you can get it trough line in connector at back of your card, by using AC97 bypassing method. If you are going to connect your LiveDrive to Audigy2, please reply, I'll try to help as much a I can!

    Thank you!

    Ryesson, take Samir's advice - he did most of the work mapping that pinout, and any feedback will help him prove it to be true

    Live and Audigy cards use (AUD_EXT) where as Audigy 2 cards use (AD_EXT) to connect to the front bay drives
    you will need to fashion a cable (or group of cables) connecting each corresponding pin between the a2zs and the live drive

    Dobro, you'll need to make cable (or cables :) ) to connect your Audigy2 to LiveDriveIR as follows:
    Code:
                  purpose:    Audigy2 pins:    LiveDriveIR pins:

                      +5V:         1 ------------- 1 or 2, no difference...
                      GND:         3 ------------- 3
                      GND:         7 ------------- 7
                      GND:         8 ------------- 8
                      GND:        14 ------------- 14
                      GND:        16 ------------- 16
                      GND:        18 ------------- 18
                      GND:        20 ------------- 20
                      GND:        28 ------------- 28
                      GND:        32 ------------- 32
                      GND:        38 ------------- 38

                 MIDI out:        37 ------------> 25
                  MIDI in:        39 <------------ 27
               SPDIF0 out:         9 ------------> 17
               SPDIF1 out:        29 ------------> 19
               SPDIF2 out:        31 ------------> 22
               SPDIF3 out:        27 ------------> 9
                 SPDIF in:         5 <------------ 15 (if doesn't work try 6 instead of 15)
     AC97CLK/P16V 24.5MHz:        13 ------------> 4
              I2S1 (Aux2):        19 <------------ 33
     I2S2(ALine-in2/Mic2):        21 <------------ 31
                     GPI0:        35 <------------ 23   \    Connecting only 35 <-- 23
                     GPI1:        33 <------------ 24   |    & 25 --> 13 should work.
                     GPO0:        25 ------------> 13    >-  You need to get 'LiveBay0'
                     GPO1:        23 ------------> 10   |    in kX driver's About box.
                     GPO2:        24 ------------> 11   /    Other pins could be for IR

    Please inform me when you do it! I'm eager to see how it's works!:D Second step is to confirm if you can get 'LiveBay0' or something like that in kX driver's About box...

    Are you using kX drivers or creative junk? :confused: Don't worry about unused pins, Audigy2 doesn't need them... ;)

    Ok, you said that you have(?) Audigy2 ZS & LiveDrive IR avaliable... We'll try to connect these for good... :) It doesn't matter if you are using kX or Creative drivers to me, but i would reccomend kX; it works fine with games (no EAX dough, but 3D sound positining is fine), and it's great if you are into music listening and/or creation... kX has superior sound quallity. Creative software bundle should not work with kX driver, but if you ever use kX, you'll find that 'bundle' = rubbish. :evil: Try & see for yourself! :rolleyes:
    Anyways, when you are ready (finished cable) to connect your Audigy2 to LiveDrive IR, no matter what drivers you prefer, post here...

    Good luck!

    Hai again, i've a problem here.. i dont understand this
    GPI0: Connecting only 35 <-- 23
    | & 25 --> 13 should work.
    >- You need to get 'LiveBay0'
    | in kX driver's About box.
    GPO2: 24 ------------> 11 / Other pins could be for IR
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    where exactly the pin no.11 is.:confused: :confused: i'm afraid there is no header for the pin no.11 and no.12 on the live! drive.

    Hi All,

    I'm trying to do something similar. I had an Audigy Platinum (model SB0090). The Card died but (I assume) the drive (front panel connector box) is still good.

    I bought an Audigy 2 ZS, connected the cable, but no joy... Is the pinout different? Will the Audig2ZS drive an Audigy connector box?

    Any ideas or help?

    Thanks.
