    i'll pick just one program, the most and only for the so called "must have" windows softwere for me is the Proxomitron.

    so sad that the author of this greatest program Scott R. Lemmon, passed away on May, 2004.
    ( more info on this can be found here - http://computercops.biz/article-5228-nested-0-0.html )

    and here - http://www.proxomitron.info/resources/index.html you can find out more info about this program.

    the Proxomitron is the best local web proxy,
    and it's the best software that 'you don't have to pay for if you don't want to', IMO.
    it can connect with an "external" proxy server. the most common use for a proxy server is to act as a "global" webpage cache in order to speed up web browsing.
    the Proxomitron can do much more that all helps speed up and more safer on all web browsing.

    Browsing the internet with Moziila based browser that connects to web server via the Proxomitron can be the most enjoyably and experiences ever while browsing the internet....

    You're welcome, HawK.

    anyway, if you are very new to this program i suggest you update the program config file by using the one created by JD5000,
    since the original ones are kinda old. and you probably don't know how to edit or create a better one on your own at this point..,
    so pls go here - http://www.jd5000.net/index.php and you can D/L the zip files that contains all new and improved config files,
    you can use the installer version of jd5000's config that also provided on the page if you like,

    also like to suggest, don't need to use the browser's popup blocking ability,
    only use the one provided by Proxomitron's config..

    and if you use Opera or Moziila / Netscape or Firefox...
    you don't need to use its filter.ini / userContent.css / cookperm.txt..
    well you can use it if you already created it but i think using the Proxomitron is more than enough.. have fun.

    Yes thanks, already did found and installed JD's config file(used the Advanced .cfg, reckoned you can learn from others how to use those programs at it's best IMM :)
    Also set my security in 'IE's internet options' to medium, just to see how/what the program does.

    Win32Pad

    It's like Notpad, but smaller, faster, and with a few nifty features that notepad is missing.

    Did anyone say OpenOffice.org. It is a great alternative if you don't feel like shelling out the cash for Microsoft Office, plus it has some nice features. PrimoPDF is a nice PDF maker as well.

    some others then the allready mentioned usual suspects :)

    Everest = PC diagnostic software
    Context = advanced text/code editor
    PicSizer = resize pics in batches
    SmartFTP = ftp client
    X-Setup = tweaking program with 100's of tweaks
    InnoSetup = program to create installations

    @Vikingod, why use PrimoPDF when mentioning OpenOffice which allready includes the option to output to PDF ? :)
