Re: New Pax Driver and Suite Discus Thread

Hi there. Nice to know someone is still trying to make the drivers better.
I own a Prelude, and except for the crackling issues, the sound is excellent with the original drivers.. what can be done to fix those pops and crackles? maybe you could mod the newest Creative X-Fi set inf or whatever to support Auzen cards? They Creative devs should have fixed this issue by now.

I actually tried many, many workarounds such as PCI latency and such, but the crackling still remains. And I'm not imagining things :)

TBH, I think your drivers have made the card crackle less, but I might be hallucinating.

    PC specs:
    4GB RAM (DDR2 1066), ASUS Maximus Formula (Intel X38 Chipset), Windows 7 64-bit.

The Setup doesn't crash but no hardware are recognized, it means i cannot find my Auzentech Prelude after the installation...
In fact the Prelude is on Manager of Periph but there is a failure error : "Code 10 cannot start the driver".

The installation went well this time but you forgot to install Creative Vol Panel :)
This is not critical since i can access manually to features.

I will continue test during weekend. I will post feedback once completed.

Re: Re : New Pax Driver and Suite Discus Thread

    I FIXED THE CRACKLING ISSUE!
It all has to do with IRQ sharing with "heavy/realtime" devices (network, GPU, etc.)

Open msinfo32.exe to see which devices share the same IRQ, and if you see your X-Fi with a LAN card for example, check your BIOS settings to try and move them away from each other.

I disabled one of my two LAN cards (only one is in use anyway), because IRQ 17 was shared between both the cards and the X-Fi. Disabling the LAN card made the BIOS choose IRQ 18 for the LAN card, while the X-Fi stayed on IRQ 17.

    No more crackling!

Robert, if you know your way around true driver hacking, you might be able to make the driver choose a different IRQ, such as 22.

Update: it seems the IRQ thing only helped reduce the crackle, but not eliminate it completely.

Re : New Pax Driver and Suite Discus Thread

Try to change PCI slot of your Soundcard =)
Sometimes it can resolve many problems.

I had that issue with the soundcard too and it wasn't the IRQ but first it was my antivirus was overloading my CPU, then it was the video games wasn't accelerated so i had to use Alchemy and finally, a simple bug of the driver which have been fixed once uninstalled completely the current driver + using Driver Sweeper to remove the remaining files and then installing the newest one.

    Good luck :)

I'm new here, so hi :)

I'm currently using PAX XFI W7 1.30beta drivers. Is it going to be the stable release without any furhter tweaks?

And how is it improved comparing to 1.25?

    Thanks :)

Re: New Pax Driver and Suite Discus Thread

No technical problems so far. As for the audio quality I can't really tell. I was for a month on a crappy headphones and PAX XTREME 1.10 after my Genius 5005 passed away. Right after I got my 5.1 repaired, I installed 1.30beta. So I have no comparison.

However, from my previous experience, there was a noticeable difference between Pax 1.10 and Creative drivers. Sound, especially higher sounds, became much clearer, which was a vast improvement in gaming.

Windows 7 64bit, XFI XTreme Music

    Hi :)
Bah it works fine, except you forgot to install Creative Vol Panel which is not critical because we can access manually to the console launcher.

Do you know if a game use FMOD, i need to put inside Creative Alchemy or not ?
