As long as it's not 20% louder and hotter, it will be win win :)

Looks like it is 8800GT-->9800GT game repeating itself.

Is it going to be a full 512 GF100? or dual GF104?

    *deep breath*

Ahh, I love the smell of failure in the morning. ATI's going to win this round if their 6800 series shapes up the way it looks. 2 x 6800's gives about 50% more oomph over the 480 -and- it's cheaper!

I agree with comp_ali and can't help but think, "Here we go again with the G92-esque rehash!"

580 CUDA Cores? Hope they keep the heat/power under control or it will be a disaster.

The number does not refer to the number of cores. Nvidia's G**4** series notebook GPUs, for example, are not 200W monsters. Similarly a GTX470 is not within 2% of a GTX480's performance.

Yeah, current high end cards are totally pointless unless you're being silly with the resolution you expect to play at :)

There will always be room for a more powerful video card until they release one that can handle 3D Vision + tessellation + physx @ 60fps at Metro2033 !

    lol at least I wish.

Give it a year max and it will be here, if that is what you are looking for.
