    Hey Robert,

you are using an outdated driver for the X-Fi HD USB. Creative released an update about a month ago. This seems to fix the annoying crackling issues a lot of the users were experiencing (including myself). Could you update your driver suite to the latest build?

Furthermore I'd like to aks wether there is any chance to get Dolby Digital Live working on the X-FI HD USB. It uses the same Chip as the Surround 5.1 Pro, which supports both DDDL and DTS Connect.

I just found out that the software package provided for the Recon 3D USB also includes drivers for every Creative USB product (down to the Audigy 2NX). These drivers are of a newer build (1.03.01.04) than the ones available on the support page of every card (which are always 1.02.x or older). It also includes updated Alchemy and Host OpenAL packages.

Then I had a look at the X-Fi MB2 Mod Pack for Realtek-Chips that is floating around the net. It includes a separate THX-Console as well as newer versions of the Audio Control Panel and Host OpenAL.

So I mixed it all together and uploaded it to my server. Drivers and in the case your card supports it, Dolby Digital Live, need to be installed manually, because I'm to lazy modifying the setup. I suggest you use these drivers as the new base for your tweaking.

    included:

    Creative USB Audio Drivers: 1.03.01.04
    Creative ALchemy: 1.43.13
    Creative Console Launcher: 2.61.53
    Creative Audio Control Panel: 3.00.62
Creative Dolby Digital Live Pack: 3.01.00
    Creative EAX Gadget: 1.00.04
    Creative Volume Panel: 2.60.03
    Host OpenAL: 2.02.56
    THX TruStudio Pro Settings: 1.04.03

Should definitively work with the X-Fi HD USB and the X-Fi surround Pro 5.1, likely with the X-Fi USB Go! Pro. For older cards without TruStudio-Support there is at least an updated driver, the utilities may work or may not.

If Alchemy doesn't recognize your card use 1.43.06 from the Pax-Master-Suite 2.05. The provided works with my X-Fi HD USB though.

Copy the address since I am not allowed to post links to outside sources yet.

    Hello PAX forums.

Just got SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro.
I have been fighting to get stronger bass sound out of this box for 3 hours at least. Very weak bass signal and the redirection sounds weird. I finally did it...kinda.

Set all speakers to 50 % with the main dial in Entertainment Console. Then go push subwoofer channel to 100 %, others remain 50 %. Now increase your amplifier / speakers volume high enough... w00t! Also go to Audio control panel and set on Speaker and Subwoofer Gain for small extra boost.

Someone on Creative forums did the same and it works until we get better drivers.

My current installation order: (Didn't have a clue how to start off, found out by trying.)
    PAX X-FI Surround Pro 5.1 USBV1.50
PAX X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro All OS V2.00
PAX X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro V2.50 (Says 2.25 in the setup window, mistake?)

Im a laptop user... Asus ROG G53JW. This one doesn't have ExpressCard port so I can't use my older X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook + speaker dock cable which was far superior to this SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro. Forced to use USB cards. :( I also have a Asus Xonar U3 but it doesn't have analog outputs for 5.1... it is otherwise better than this Creative crap.

    Hey all!

Got here by lucky following links in a google search, but I am glad I did.

I got a USB Surrond 5.1 Pro few months ago believing that Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect would work but never got it to work and gave up believing it indeed wasn't supported, but this forum gave me hope, so I might try again (since it was the entire point of using it it is shoved away in some drawer).

But anyway, I didn't read all posts (not even close) and might be actually mixing threads here but I had trouble with the bass and fixed believing it was my receiver fault but it just sound like it may be related to the card.

I just changed the default format in the advanced tab on windows to one with the frequency of 48000 instead of 44000. Anyone having trouble with the bass with standard sound (this do not apply for passthrough) give this a go and see if it helps. PS: 96000 also works well and 16 or 24 bit didn't better so I sticked to 24.

    That is my 2 cents.

    I don't even have 44000, I got 4 modes 48000 Hz and 96000 in
    16 and 24bits. Sticking to 48000 and 16.

Did you take a look at the drivers I uploaded? In February this year, Creative made a driver update available for the X-Fi HD USB, which is based on a build from April 2010(!).

The Recon3D update includes a working driver for every Creative USB device (fully signed, installs without any errors). This build however is from January 2012(!).

Maybe it's just my imagination, but the headphone positioning (TruStudio Surround) wasn't working on my X-Fi HD with the normal drivers. After installing this new build it sounds exactly the same like my Recon3D.

Hi,thread master.I've downloaded your USB Sound Blaster HD 1.75
and installed on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64,I've got a big problem, can not output Dolby Digital signals via USB Sound Blaster HD S/PDIF,my Dolby Digital decoder can not switch to the Dolby Digital light. The official new driver is able to do so.

Hi, I know this has been asked for many times... but is there any chance of adding bass & treble control to the drivers for X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB? The bass is WAY too high and the treble too low. Would be FANTASTIC if this could be added!
