Shadows on a FLAT surface that change? Yeah right... And what about the reappearing backgrounds, the fact that no blast crater under the lander, no stars in the sky and nobody has done it again for the past 40 bloody years?!

The buildings are as I said, the FIRST IN THE WORLD (skyscrapers) to be brought down JUSt by fire when there have been many older skyscrapers burning for over 15hours and still standing...

And as I said, tis the only military base that has that policiy... Come on, people who work there usually have such short life expectancies too

The moon's surface is not flat, and light sources include the sun, the Earth and reflections from other lunar surfaces. Perspective effects cause some shadows to appear to move in different directions, in the same way parallel railroad tracks appear to converge in the distance, and the wide-angle cameras used cause some "fish-eye" distortion.

Identical looking backgrounds happen when objects are very distant. Because of the lack of atmosphere on the moon, objects that look like nearby hills can actually be mountains which are kilometees high and many kilometers away. Also, the horizon is about half the distance on the moon as it is on Earth, which can lead to some confusion when interpreting photographs.

No crater was expected, they even calculated this before the lander was to land. The propulsion system was greatly throttled down because of the lander's decreased mass from much of the propellent being exhausted and low gravitational attraction of the moon. In a vacuum, exhaust fumes spread very rapidly, far more than they do from rockets you see flying on earth.
Until right before the landing, the lunar lander was moving horizontally as well, and it did in fact kick up a lot of dust, obscuring visibility on landing. Photograhps do show disturbed dust below the engine. Under the thin layer of dust, the lunar soil was very compacted.

The astronauts weren't taking pictures of stars. The sun on the moon shines as brightly as it does during a clear day at noon on Earth, and shutter speeds must be appropriately set. Stars are never seen in shots from the space shuttles, Mir, the ISS or even photographs from Earth that depict brightly lit things at night, such as sporting events.

There was no motivation for the US to continue going to the moon, I'm surprised they made as many missions as they did. The Soviets lost much of their motivation after the US made it first, and the only other country to launch people into space at all has been China in the last few years.

Thank you for telling me what to think - NOW I CAN BE JUST LIKE YOU. -

I made NO indication of my view point...

But Ill state it - theres enough to make me want to see the original evidence first hand. AND NOT rely on some low res pics and footage, or suposive 'information' with no sources given/indicated.

Is this an argument for the fact that there are no European conspiracy theories because no one gives a shit about Europe (even Europe)? Or is it an argument for the geographical origin of the bullshit showing some sort of correlation to the plausibility of the bullshit? Either way...

So because you (and the french conspiracy nut that started this nonsense) aren't altogether familiar with the mechanics of what occurs when a commercial airliner strikes a building then it must be a grand conspiracy plot? What about all of the exponentially more plausible evidence, presented in easy to comprehend little snippets, against the particular point quoted here that you don't have to restrain disbelief to agree to?

When you have evidence like this then of course space aliens must exist. I mean c'mon, with hard facts about a supposed 'usual low life expectency' no doubt gleaned from a conspiracy theory website I think you may have just sealed this one.

How can a person claim to have examined the evidence for both sides and still cling so tenaciously to the absolute least plausible explanation? Aren't you the same sandok berating idiots for doing this exact thing in the ID thread? Have you ever heard of Occam's Razor? If not you should look it up. If so I think you could use a refresher before some poor sap introduces you to the wonderful world of David Icke and you become a lost cause. *glances at BWX*

AttroPheed: Good post, as a fellow Pastafarian, I fully agree with the points made therein.

Sandok: You realize that regardless of any "rights" you have to get shot if you wander into area 51, there have been a total of 0 violent encouters, people are simply escorted to the edge of the base and fined $600.

(Yeah, I didn't have much to say, I just really wanted to draw attention to your sig. ;))

Well according to NASA, that one picture or two making so much controvesy was on a "flat area" and they themselves say "There is only one light source, the sun". I'm just repeating their official stuff mate... And fine, let's pretend the shadows are fine... If it'll make you guys get off my back, I agree I'm totally stupid.

Well with the particular photograph, the same picture was taken from the SAME spot at the SAME distance at two different days... But again, I agree I'm wrong.

Wow now NASA says the opposite and a blast crater from the single engined lander WAS expected and they even have art images of a blast crater being made... And also, even if there was no crater a lot of dust would have been kicked up and back ONTO the lander's feet but I'll admit, I'm wrong.

Stars are visible from the Mir and ISS (especially in photos) but according to the manufacturer of the camera's that were chest mounted, they would have been able to see the stars... But again, I'm totally wrong and admit it.

The soviets never went to the moon because radation was a huge concern... You had to leave's earths protective field to reach the moon and the Moon missions are the FURTHEST man has ever gone... Back in the 60s... The amount of protection required would have been immense but they only had alluminium. The soviets couldn't risk their men...

The latter... It's the geographical argument because fine, name conspiracies in Euro and then look at all the american ones:

    Elvis lives
    Manro was murdered
    Kennedy was killed on purpose
    Moon Landings
    Area 51
    911
    etc etc etc

Oh god... It wasn't a french conspiracy nut who STARTED it.. He cashed in but trust me, the first wiff of this stuff was american... Again, the rest of the wolrd DOESN'T give a damn about america's problems and all.

And what of all the facts that a plane crashing into a super skyscraper is apparently not enough to bring a building down? The fires weren't hot enough to completely melt steel (barely even warping some of it), most of the gas exploded outside and all... Meh to hell with it, your right I'm wrong.

Aliens doesn't necerssarily mean huge super intelligent little green guys who abduct humans you know... With the AMOUNT of planets per sun and the AMOUNT of suns per galalxy and the AMOUNT of galaxies in the universe, a MATHEMETICAL EQUATION gives us a probability. It's not right or wrong but according to hardcore numbers (that aren't made up mate), it's a certainty.

Just like it's certain that every two-three seconds, a human dies on earth. We aren't mesuring it but we are calculating the probability of total deaths and then, checking out the times... Same principal but again, your right only god made us and we are all alone in this vaste universe.

I'm not saying I believe anything... These forums are a fun place to find out everything about the other person's thinking and hell, I'm not trying to "convert" you to my system of belief. Anyways, this can go on forEVER and thus, I admit I'm totally wrong and I beg forgivness...

Im no engineering expert but my understanding is that the twin towers fell not because the steel was melted, but because it was weakened by the heat so much that the remaining supports couldn’t carry the weight anymore.

What about the people in the planes? Surely if it was planes that hit the pentagon and/or twin towers they will all be dead (and we have the messages they left on loved ones answering machines do we not?). If it was a missile, then we wouldn’t have all those missing people, and the missing planes.

-The trajectory through the Van Allen belts was planned to minimize exposure, and the astronauts spend about 30 minutes in the belts.
-Dosimeters carried by the crew showed they recieved the same amount of radiation as a normal chest x-ray on their trip.
-Dr. James Van Allen, the discoverer of the Van Allen radiation belts, has rebutted the claims that radiation levels were too dangerous for the Apollo missions.
-The radiation is actually evidence that the astronauts went to the Moon. 33 of 36 of the Apollo astronauts have early stage cataracts that have been shown to be caused by radiation exposure to cosmic rays during their trip.

The Soviets would have gotten to the moon a few years after the Americans if the Americans had not done it first. After the Americans got to the moon, focus in the Soviet space program shifted to Salyut development.

    Sources? (Photos?)

Okay, actually I'm not quite sure about NASA's official prediction of events for the lander, art images of various potential events wouldn't suprise me though. Both the USSR and the US had sent unmanned ships to the moon which made it back to Earth, they'd have studied how these craft landed before launching people in them.

So, uh, what's the problem with taking the same picture a couple different times?

I've never heard of this... so, link source?

If I could name even one foreign actor who died under any circumstances or anything worth noting about the rest of the world's space programs then maybe I could name a foreign conspiracy theory. As it is tho, I struggle to remember the American ones.

Cashed in you say? Want to buy a venture stake in my cold fusion powered, homeopathic, cancer curing space-elevator startup company? I'm building it with some of the money I made helping the illuminati lizard king manufacture the bird flu using materials directly derived from alien technology.

Well they aren't "facts" or both buildings would still be standing. This is difficult to grasp? What some conspiracy crank thinks happened doesn't seem to speak quite as loud as a smoking crater where skyscrapers once stood.

Anecdotes are not evidence no matter how decorated the storyteller. I'm sure we could find a nobel laureate to tell us that all the dogs in the world speak fluent german when no one's listening but that doesn't make it true.

I'll assume we're talking either about the Drake Equation (Fermi Paradox?) or The Rare Earth Hypothesis. Either way the numbers (and the equasion itself for that matter) aren't what anyone would call "hardcore".

But while I may have to remain 'agnostic' about life on other planets, where do we make the leap from the scant probablity of aliens existing, to them flying over to visit us on earth? ...and where does a military base's trespassing policy come into play?

Actually I think the probability of aliens existing is far more compelling than any evidence for gods. And given that I don't quite believe in extra terrestrial life I fear White Jesus is a lost cause.

I know what you're saying. I've become quite the expert on ID\creationism thanks to this forum.

    Well that's no fun. :(

You know what, I'm just waiting the day till we send men back on the moon (apparently a LOT of money to be made) and if they find the landers and buggies, I'll shut up for ever... Oh wait, I already shut up :(

I'll let you guys keep on debating, I have nothing else to add because honestly, as much as I love aruging and I honstly find this fun (it's very interesting and a learning experience), I just don't have the time for it... Sorry guys :(

Yeah you might as well do that about that subject, they already brought back about 800 pounds of moon-rock IIRC. If it was more or less all together, it was still a lot.

-leave me out of your long boring posts.

Calling people idiots outside of the flame warzone is against forum rules, I will report any more flaming by you.

At a high enough speed it can. IE. its not unherd of for a blade of staw to be driven
through a tellaphone pole. This was a up to 272,000 lbs plane hitting at mach speeds.

As for the wings, tier made out of a metal the bends better then brakes they would of
simply folded back along the body of th plane. Same way you'd lay you hand down the
fins of a fish on the back they just "lay down". Not to metion god know what effect
since the engines would be pushing/pulling.

    Well I don't think we've sen a case when a 272,000 lbs plane was driven , at a 90
degree angle into the ground a full speed full of passangers. Wich is the only thing you
could equate. As in normal cases the planes wouldn't be traveling that fast, the piolets
would dump the fuel, an they would be trying to kit the ground at an angle that
would deflect the plane and give the best chane of survival. There is no compair
    to a kamakzi run

Even if there was HDTV quality footage and 101% proof. People would still be flooding wit the BS and theory and conspiracies,

If responding to a post with more than a single word is too long and boring then I apologize. Not all of us wield the fine command over the english language that you do.

If we're calling a petty, off the cuff idiot remark flaming do I have to take exception to your 'long boring posts' comment? I've often wondered why you even come into this section of the forum. You contribute nothing and are offended by everything.

Notice I did not call anyone an idiot.. I'm not offended, but leave the flaming where it belongs... We might as well just combine the FWZ and PDF at this point.

Let me break it down for ya...

    - I said the word "idiotic"

    - I was describing an idea that I think is idiotic.

    - it was not an idea anyone here says they believe.

    - I did not call anyone here an idiot or idiotic, nor was than my intention.

    Just to be clear, ok?

Just for fun, lets change a few words around in your original sentence. Note that the original intention of your sentence is not changed.

"You guys just don't want to deal with that argument here because you know it is totally idiotic to think that intelligent design is a scientific theory."

See what we did here? Well maybe not or you would have tried a stronger argument. I just called IDers the same thing you called primordial soup theorists. As a person who holds Primordial Soup speculation in high regard as a plausible theory for the origin of life I am highly offended.

Are we done now or should I go into how totally idiotic it is to be a hypocrite?
