Hi! I new here and I hope you don't mind that I didn't proper introduce myself. I'll save it for later.
Anyway, I have the same problem with Phoenix-Award. Thing is that I don't need 1 year subscription, but one-time upgrade of my bios.
    My specs are:

    Bios type: Award
    Bios Date: February 15th 2001
    Bios ID: 02/15/2001-8601(A)-686-6A6LIPA9C-00-None
Bios OEM: 02/15/2001 For VIA VT8601(A) Chipset - 6.00 PG
    Chipset: VIA 82C601 rev 5
Super IO: VIA 686 rev 64 at pci 7
    Manufacturer: VIA Technologies, Inc.
    Motherboard: VT8601

I bought extra RAM (2x512 Mb) I my motherboard won't work with it. It supports max 512 Mb :tears:. Could bios upgrade help it work? And do you know where can I find newer version of bios which would solve my problem? (I would like to make my father's old machine to work normally on internet).

    Thanks

Only your motherboard manufacturer can supply a BIOS for your board and it has to be exactly for that specific board revision..... If you have a "pre-built" system (Dell, HP, etc.) then you will have to get it from them.

There are no "generic" BIOS updates.

The BIOS string identifies it as being EPOX/2themax
    Bios-id - Mainboard manufacturer identification - www.biosflash.com
Defunct maker, very hard to find links that are not dead/bad

Does it only pick up one 512, or does it pick up 256 fror each 512? The old boards were hellish fussy in RAM support, with issues over density and bank arrangement.

I think you need a new keyboard. Looks like the Shift Key and punctuation keys are not working. ;)

At any rate, I'm not sure you've provided enough details as to just what is in your system. Do you know which motherboard you have? And, have you checked online for updates to that specific motheboard?

Have a look at the post screen when the PC starts up,As This site hosts bios 1.0c and were released in 2003 and no further upadates since then. Which means that ECS probably no longer supports the board.

You have mentioned everything except for the Vital piece of information.. The Make & Model of the Motherboard...

If you Read This Post this will give you an insight on how to find the Correct Bios for your motherboard.

Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG is not a Standard that works on any motherboard.

Looks like it could be a http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/motherboard_view.asp?productid=302&proname=M2A692-VDP
For which the latest is A04, slightly later in 2007.

Caution though, as if the PC maker has a custom version of the board, the generic model firmware may not apply.
