Congrts, mkk, nice to see the prize going to the hands of someone we all know.
I will. If in the past I've been a bit obsessed about harddrives and bought new ones before I really needed to replace the old ones, in order to take advantage of whatever technological progress; I realise that as soon as SSD's started becoming affordable I've shifted my attention to them. I want them in any system that I spend any significant time on. There are many today that have excellent read speeds at a relatively low cost, and then there are premium drives like the M5 Pro that go the extra mile when it comes to write speed and reliability. I haven't had an SSD with really fast writes before and this will also be my first drive with a Marvell controller so it will be a little extra interesting.
Congratulations mkk! I'm very happy for you!
I don't know why I didn't enter this one, I just never got around to it....
There is so much "loot" going around these days to keep track of. But I'm kinda glad you didn't.
hope some day some thing could come my way i will keep entering and hoping
Congrats MKK.. Great item to have
Congrats to the lucky winner.
I've been using it for a couple of days now, with a smile on my face. I put it off for a bit since I decided to make a clean Windows install seeing as the existing installation had been through its paces. I put the Win7-SP1 installation files onto the Plextor M5 Pro and booted up on it. It took just minutes for the base installation to finish, and installing everything after that like updates was quicker than I've ever seen a system do them before.
Even though this is my fifth solid state drive and the last 250GB Samsung 840 was no slouch, I have never had an SSD with really fast writes like this M5 Pro before. The difference is quite telling when installing/updating anything. The amount of Windows Updates on a newly installed Windows can be a bit of a chore on most systems. Having serviced laptops earlier in the week where that operation took hours, this fresh installation felt like it wasn't much work at all.
I'm a bit under the weather and need a nap or I'd write more.
Glad you like it, enjoy
